CMVL - CATHOLIC METRO VOLLEYBALL LEAGUE


The Philosophy of CMVL is to...

  • Provide an environment rich in sportsmanship and fair play while affording girls in grades 5-8 the opportunity to play volleyball free from tryouts or cuts.
  • We want to ensure that every girl within the CMVL has a positive athletic experience is paramount to our success.
  • We are a participation based instructional and semi-competitive league parallel to, but mutually exclusive from competitive middle school athletic programs.
  • Our league is founded on the beliefs and teachings of the Holy Catholic Church, and the governance of our league, as such, will benefit the interests of every child within our charge.

VOLLEYBALL SCHEDULE

Season Information:

  • We have three girls programs - 5th/6th & 7th/8th League; High School League; 4th Grade Spring Development Program.
  • There are no boys programs at this time.
  • We now have volleyball available in both Spring and Fall season.
  • Fall Registration opens on May 15th
  • Spring Registration opens January 1st
  • The season lasts for 6 weeks and in the Fall there is a tournament is played at the end of the season.
  • Each team plays 2 games each Saturday - 12 regular game season

  • Spring Season Dates:
    Week 1 - March 1st
    Week 2  - March 8th
    Week 3 - March 15th
    Week 4 - March 22nd
    Week 5 - March 29th
    Week 6 - April 26th

CMVL LEAGUE RULES

The Catholic Metro Volleyball League (CMVL) has worked over many years to develop rules that allow children of all skill levels to participate in the church recreational program together.  Our primary goal is the safety and happiness of the children.  The league provides the rules in order to minimize the disruption of their happiness by actions of the parents.

This is their game.
They want to be a part of a team.
They want to play with their friends and represent their school/church.
They want an opportunity to compete and play.
They want an environment of compassion and fairness.
They want their parents to provide positive encouragement.

CMVL LEAGUE BYLAWS

Match Information:
• Matches are every Saturday (there is no match over Labor Day, Spring Break or Easter weekends). 
• We will play two teams every Saturday (Tournament style). 
• Scoring (rally scoring) is best 2 out of 3 games played. 
• Matches generally begin anytime between 9am and NOON. Occasionally we may have a 1pm start time. 
• Each match will last one hour. Given there are two matches each Saturday, the play time would be two hours. If we are the host team we generally have a one hour gap between games. Example, game 1 starts at 9am and game 2 starts at 11am. If we are a visiting team we generally have back-to-back start times.
