The Our Lady of the Assumption ("OLA") Basketball Program is run by volunteers of the OLA Athletic Ministry.

The K-2nd Grade Recreational Basketball Program has two sessions.  The Fall session opens mid August and runs 6 weeks from late October to the middle of December.  Sessions are held for 1 hour on Sundays in the OLA Gym.

The Winter session opens 12/4-1/07 and runs 6 weeks from end of January through mid March.  Sessions are held for 1 hour on Sundays in the OLA Gym.

OLA K-2nd Basketball Fall 2024

Our Lady of the Assumption K-2nd Grade Recreational Basketball Program

The Our Lady of the Assumption ("OLA") Basketball Program is run by volunteers of the OLA Athletic Ministry. The K-2nd grade basketball program is a recreational league run by parent volunteers. The program is focused 50% on skills and 50% games. We will focus on the basics of learning the fundamentals of basketball. Most of the time the kids will be doing activities to learn about basketball and the goal is for them to gain confidence in dribbling, passing and shooting the ball.

K-2nd Grade Fall 2023 Basketball Program Registration begins on August 23rd and closes on September 30th

K-2nd Grade (Co-ed) Program (Teams will be divided into Boys and Girls after registration closes):
  • Season runs for 6 weeks from the end of October to mid December
  • Practices/Scrimmages are on Sundays in the OLA gym 
  • Registration Fee is $90
  • Sibling discount - $15 for second child, $15 for third child, $15 for fourth child, $15 for subsequent children signed up at registration
  • Reversible Jersey and Training Basketball is provided to registrants and is included in the registration fee

There will be a MODIFIED schedule for the 2nd Grade Program as follows:
  • Weeks 1 and 2 - 60 minutes of skill development 
  • Weeks 3 and 4 - 30 minutes skill development, 30 minutes of 3v3
  • Weeks 5 and 6 - 10 minutes of warmup, 50 minutes of 3v3

The program runs 1 hour sessions on Sundays in the OLA Gym as follows:
Week 1 - Sunday 10/27
Kindergarten: 12pm - 1pm     
1st Grade: 1pm to 2pm         
2nd Grade: 2pm - 3pm

Week 2 - Sunday 11/03
Kindergarten: 12pm - 1pm     
1st Grade: 1pm to 2pm         
2nd Grade: 2pm - 3pm

Week 3 - Sunday 11/10
Kindergarten: 12pm - 1pm     
1st Grade: 1pm to 2pm         
2nd Grade: 2pm - 3pm

Week 4 - Sunday 11/17
Kindergarten: 12pm - 1pm     
1st Grade: 1pm to 2pm         
2nd Grade: 2pm - 3pm

Week 5 - Sunday 12/01
Kindergarten: 12pm - 1pm     
1st Grade: 1pm to 2pm         
2nd Grade: 2pm - 3pm

Week 6 - Sunday 12/08
Kindergarten: 12pm - 1pm     
1st Grade: 1pm to 2pm         
2nd Grade: 2pm - 3pm

Please note the following refund processes for cancellations after registration:
A $10 refund fee will be charged for cancellations before the registration closing date of 9/30; a $25 refund fee will be charged for cancellations between 10/01 and 10/27; and no refunds will be allowed after 10/27.

PARENT RUN PROGRAM:  All OLA Recreation programs are run by active parent volunteers. We have a Program Director and Athletic Director who help administer the program, but the actual coaching is all done by parents. Parent participation is essential, and you will enjoy the program more as you become active with the children. All volunteer parents must have completed the VIRTUS Program screening and training before becoming involved with the program. Basketball Registration runs usually from 9/1-9/30 for the Fall Session 1 and 12/4-1/07 for Winter session 2.
