By-Laws

 

  1. Membership will automatically be terminated if dues are delinquent more than three months from the renewal date.  (Renewal Date: October 1st).

 

  1. Membership dues must be current in order to be eligible to vote in elections.

 

  1. New members are ineligible to vote in elections prior to three months active service.

 

  1. New members with less than six months service, or existing members who have less than 75% attendance in the prior year (May 1st - April 30th), are ineligible for election as a club officer.

 

  1. Board of Director members, as defined below in item #6, must attend 75% of board meetings (18 of 24) or they will lose their voting rights and also are not eligible for re-election.  If eligibility is lost after the first term of a two-year term, the board member will be removed before they begin their second year.
    1. 2/4/6 rule for Board members:  miss 2 consecutive meetings/contacted by President; miss 4 consecutive meetings/appear before board; miss 6 consecutive meetings/automatically forfeit board position.
    2. At least 50% of attendance must be in person.

 

  1. The Board of Directors consists of the following members:
    1. President (one year term)
    2. President-elect
    3. 2 Vice-Presidents (one year term)
    4. Past President (one year)
    5. Secretary/Treasurer (appointed by President-elect upon taking office/approved by board of directors)
    6. Recording Secretary (appointed by President-elect upon taking office/approved by board of directors)
    7. Designee (appointed by President-elect upon taking office/approved by board of directors)
    8. Board Members (twelve elected/two year term/six elected each alternating year)
    9. Head Commissioner of each sport (appointed by Board of Directors)
    10. Life Members (those awarded life member status by Cooper City Optimist Club)
    11. Any board member who resigns the position may remain on the board until the next elections are held.  This is a courtesy and can be revoked by the Board for reason.

 

  1. The term of service for all board of directors follows Optimist International guidelines with the exception that all positions are eligible for re-election.

 

  1. Elections will be held at the May meeting.  Terms begin on October 1st and terminate on September 30th of the following year.

 

  1. The board reserves the right to terminate membership of any individual for conduct unbecoming Optimist Standards.
