ABOUT US
Cooper City Cobras Soccer provides recreational and competitive soccer programs for the youth of Cooper City. This soccer program is completely run by volunteers, operates as part of the Cooper City Optimist, CCO, which is a “not for profit” organization and a distinguished member of Optimist International. We currently are operating three (Recreational. 5v5, and Travel) youth soccer programs.
Recreational
The Recreational league registers participants, ages 5 to 17, starting mid-August through mid-September; games are played from mid-November through mid-February. The 2015-2016 recreational season there were approx. 1350 participants on 120 teams. The teams play 2 games per week, one during the weeknights at either 6:30PM or 8:00PM and one game on Saturdays running from 9:00AM through 4:30PM. Mid-way through the season as we break for the holidays All-Star teams are selected, by the players, and just after the break we have the "Kip's" All-Star day, with games from the under 7 division and up. The recreational season culminates after a 12 to 14 game season with double elimination playoffs. The season concludes with Soccer Fest weekend where we hold our annual “John Marnon” memorial coaches' games on Friday night. Championship Saturday final games from the under 7 division and up, a day long festival of fun and activities for all, and two Charity games for a younger division and an older division mixed with boys and girls.
5v5
The 5v5 season registers participants, ages 5 to 17, starting on Soccer Fest Saturday, then from the end of February through mid-March. The 5v5 season in 2014 registered approx. 890 participants, fielding 107 teams. The teams play 2 games per week, one during the weeknights at either 6:30PM or 7:30PM and one game on Saturdays running from 9:00AM through 5:00PM. This 5v5 league offers a unique opportunity of playing quick paced small-sided games, no goalkeeper, 8 players to a team, and we do not keep score or track standings. The game is played with two twenty-minute halves on a small field allowing the players to utilize their passing and communication skills.
Travel
The Travel soccer program is an approved Florida Youth Soccer Association, F.Y.S.A., affiliate competing in Region A. The Boys participate in league play with the South Florida United Youth Soccer Assoc., SFUYSA, boys soccer league, while the Girls participate in league play with the Florida United Girls Soccer Association, FLUGSA, girl’s soccer league. Travel soccer is a full commitment to the game of soccer for 10 months of the year. The cost is higher, the expectations are higher, half of team’s games are played at another cities facilities, and the competition, training, and dedication is generally expected to be at a higher level.
