West Seattle Soccer Club (WSSC)

News Detail

Aug, 2021

Greetings Members:

Safety remains a priority for the West Seattle Soccer Club. With vaccinations well under way we must remain vigilant in keeping all our members safe.

The governor's office fully re-opened the state on June 30th, after more than a year of restrictions. The mask mandate was removed for all vaccinated people, and is now just a recommendation for non-vaccinated people. Seattle Parks and Schools have officially adopted the state guidance listed here. This is a wordy document, but the applicable verbiage is:

People are not required to wear face coverings in any of the following situations:
- When outdoors. People who are not fully vaccinated against COVID-19 are expected to wear face coverings in crowded outdoor settings.

Even though the mask mandate has been removed, any player or spectator who is more comfortable wearing a mask should do so.

With the recent rise of infections from the Delta Variant, including among those who have been vaccinated, the CDC recommends that all persons mask while indoors.  We are mindful that many of our player population are too young to qualify for vaccination.  Accordingly, WSSC expects masks to be worn by all coaches and players whenever they are not in an active play situation (e.g. waiting as a substitute, gathering together in practice, etc.) and by all persons who are not socially distanced for a period of 15 minutes or more.
