Play-Up Requests
Play-Up requests of one year for players returning to a team from the previous Fall Season will always be honored provided the Coach Request is listed in registration and the Play-Up Request field is marked “YES.”
Play-Up requests of one year for new players or players seeking to change teams are subject to West Seattle Board Approval but will be granted whenever possible. It will not be granted if the play-up would displace a player trying to play in their “natural” age group.
Play up requests of greater than one divisional year require that the registering parent/guardian email the board at [email protected] with an explicit request and explanation. Failure to provide this information timely during the registration window will result in the players request not being granted.
Play Down Requests
West Seattle Soccer Club does not allow playdown requests for any reason other than medical waiver. This waiver must be submitted to Washington Youth Soccer with a doctors note and communicated clearly and in full via email to [email protected]. These submissions must be re-verified by the state every season the request is made.
Waitlist Policy
Players who register after the seasonal registration window has closed are placed on a waitlist at no charge. West Seattle Soccer Club does not prioritize late registrations for coach or teammate requests, but Age Group Coordinators will make every effort to accommodate them.
When a player is added from the waitlist, an email will be sent to the address on record notifying the family. Registration fees are due within 14 days of this email, and delays in payment may result in the player being removed from the roster.
Early Entry Registration (Can my four year old play?)
West Seattle Soccer Club requires that the parent/guardian of an under-age player seeking registration also register as a Head Coach for their child's team. Multiple Head Coaches may be assigned to a team. To facilitate the registration process, please register yourself as a Head Coach for U6 and email [email protected] with your request.
Role of the Coaches Expected Roster
When coaches register as volunteers, there is a space for an "Expected Roster." This roster does not influence team formation, as West Seattle Soccer Club believes players should choose their teams rather than coaches making the selection. However, Age Group Coordinators may refer to the expected roster if a team has new players with similar priority levels, to determine if any players had previously communicated with the coach and should gain some level of priority.
Dual Roster Prohibition
West Seattle Soccer Club and Highline Soccer Association member clubs and programs are committed to providing the right soccer experience for every youth player. As such, players are permitted to be rostered to a single team in any given season. West Seattle Soccer Club performs a check against, among others, HSA Select and HPFC rosters and removes competitive players from its seasonal registration to ensure an even competitive playing field, prevent repetitive strain injuries, and prevent inevitable schedule conflicts which cause immense harm to team and player relationships.
