The DLL Snack Shack

The Snack Shack at Davis Little League is so much more than just snacks. Of course it's nice for an easy meal or a sweet treat, but it is important because of the sense of community it brings to our ball park. We regularly see adults connecting with friends in line. The little ones sparkle with the opportunity to spend their quarters. And the older kids still get enthused about things like Big League Chew. The Snack Shack is our central hub and we love that it brings joy and connection throughout the league. The Snack Shack also generates revenue that we use for general upkeep of the facility; however, the reason we push so hard to keep it operational is because it's integral to the experience of Davis Little League...for the players, siblings, parents, families, and friends. Snack Shack FAQ

How many shifts does my family need to volunteer? One 2 hour shift per family (2 hours total) will count towards your required DLL volunteer hours.(**if you have more than 1 child playing this season it will still only be 2 volunteer hours).
How long is a Snack Shack shift? Each shift is 2 hours long.
How do I sign up for a shift? Use the SignUpGenius link (via this page) to claim a shift.
Are all divisions required to complete snack shack volunteer hours? All Farm, AA, AAA and Majors families are required to complete Snack Shack volunteer hours. 50/70, Juniors, Challenger and T-ball families are NOT.
Can we use someone else to complete our family hours? Anyone (grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, family friends, teens, etc.) can complete Snack Shack hours on behalf of your family requirement.
What is the minimum age to work in the Snack Shack? Everyone who works in the Snack Shack must be 14 years of age or older.
Is there a way to hire a teen to cover my family's shift? Yes! You will need to coordinate this independently. Check out our list of regular teen workers (on this page) whom you can contact to arrange coverage. Teens have access to the SignUpGenius and can claim a slot to fill on your behalf; please make sure they know your player/family name to include in order for you to get credit for their shift (you can confirm by checking the SignUpGenius).
Do I need to use the contact list you provide to hire a teen? No, as long as the volunteer is at least 14 years old, you are free to send them in your place.
What if I am the Manager or Assistant Coach, does my family still have to do volunteer hours? Yes, the 2hr shift mandate applies across all families in indicated divisions.
What if I have another volunteer role on the team? We realize it takes lots of volunteers to run a team smoothly, but it also takes lots of volunteers to run the Snack Shack. If all families contribute to both their team and the league via the Snack Shack we will ALL benefit.
Will there be Snack Shack training? Yes, training will be provided at the beginning of each shift for any new volunteers.
How will hours be tracked? The SignUpGenius is the place to claim a volunteer shift and enter the name of the player/family to receive credit for the shift. Each volunteer will sign in upon arrival at the Snack Shack to confirm the shift hours were fulfilled.
What if I'd rather contribute to the league in a different way? Use the email address below if you have a strong aversion to the Snack Shack and feel you could contribute to the league in a different useful way.
