Annual City of Hope Holiday Fundraiser 2020
Despite the significant challenges posed by Covid-19, including cancelling an 11-year tradition of hosting Toys4Tots tournaments benefiting City of Hope, our fundraising efforts this year were a huge success!
Our baseball families contributed generously to our "Amazon Gift Cards for COH's Kids" collection, and our Drive-Thru Toy & Gift Card Fundraiser held on December 12th at the field had a huge turnout!!
These fundraisers honor the memory of a remarkable young man, Chris Vega (GHS'12) who passed away at COH on September 17, 2012. His family and friends joined with his mom, Annie's students (Sellers) and our Pony alumni families to make the day magical!
This year, we donated over 250 toys to the Marines for Toys4Tots (COH was unable to accept toys due to Covid-19) and almost $2000 in Amazon gift cards to City of Hope's Pediatric Unit!
A very special thanks to Audrey Emis and her Girl Scout Troop 9064 for joining the cause with their toy drive - they delivered their toys to our local Fire Station #86!
In a very difficult year for everyone, this is an especially important moment to celebrate - when our community came together with their strongest and most generous showing of love and support. It joins with our most successful annual COH Blood Drive in April at the start of the pandemic to highlight that while this year has weighed heavily on all of us, it brought out the best in us in these moments of selfless generosity. We are grateful to all of you.
