The Grafton Soccer Club (GSC) High School Scholarship Policy

 The Grafton Soccer Club (GSC) will award scholarships to one or more high school seniors each year in recognition of their contribution to and support of the development of soccer in Grafton

 Eligibility Requirements:

 To be eligible for the scholarships the applicant(s) must:

1)    be graduating from high school in the year of award

2)    be a resident of Grafton

3)    have been a member of the GSC (i.e., played on a GSC team) at any time during the previous 10 years

4)    have contributed to the development Grafton Soccer through support of the GSC (e.g. coaching, referee, or other volunteer participation) and/or other soccer associations (e.g. high school soccer)

5)    be pursuing a secondary education

6)    have completed a scholarship application form and submitted it to the GSC by the required deadline

 Applicants do not have to be a student at Grafton High School to be eligible. 

 Application Process:

 The GSC will notify Grafton residents about the scholarship through:

1)    an advertisement in the local newspaper at least one month prior to the award deadline

2)    the Grafton high school guidance office

3)    other means of communication deemed appropriate or necessary at the discretion of the GSC Board of Directors (BOD)

Application forms will be available at the Grafton high school guidance office or the GSC. An application form must be completed and submitted to the GSC by April 25th of the year of award.

Selection and Announcement of Winners:

 The scholarships recipients will be selected by a majority vote of the GSC BOD based on the selection criteria specified herein and the application form.

The scholarships will be awarded by May 30thof the year of award.  

Amount of Award:

 The GSC BOD at its discretion will set the amount of the scholarships yearly.

Selection Criteria:

 In selecting the winner(s) of the scholarships the GSC BOD will consider the aggregate contribution to the development of soccer in Grafton by the applicant through any of the means listed below:

 1)    number of years applicant played on a GSC soccer team

2)    number of years served as a volunteer (coach, referee or other)

3)    number of years played for Grafton school system soccer teams

4)    continuing involvement in soccer post high school

 The applicant need not have contributed through all 4 means listed above since  a significant contribution in any one of the three or combination thereof may be rated higher than a lower level of contribution through all 4 means.
