KIDS SAFE POLICY
Massachusetts' law requires that criminal background checks (CORI) be conducted on all youth soccer coaches, administrators, and volunteers.
The Grafton Soccer Club will not knowingly allow any person convicted of a crime of violence, physical abuse, sale of illegal substances, or who has any other convictions that would indicate a pattern of behavior that would have a detrimental effect on children to be placed in a position that would involve direct contact with children.
The club will rely on the state’s soccer organization, Massachusetts Youth Soccer (MYSA), for implementation of this policy through its risk management program.
Applicability
This policy shall apply to any of the following who have regular contact with children:
- Coaches
- Assistant Coaches
- Administrators
- Other Volunteers
-
Gathering Information Concerning Volunteers
The Grafton Soccer Club is responsible for properly registering all adult volunteers with MYSA. By volunteering, the adult consents to a background check and to provide the necessary information (including address, DOB, SSN, etc.) required by MYSA to perform the background checks. All information provided will not be used by MYSA for any other purpose than conducting the required background checks. The Grafton soccer club will additionally ensure that the information provided will only be available to the registrar for this purpose. Volunteers may provide the information to the registrar through any means the volunteer deems necessary to safeguard this data.
Any volunteer who fails the background check or refuses to provide the necessary information requested by MYSA will not be allowed to participate in any way with any activity involving the Grafton Soccer Club or its members.
The Mass Youth Soccer KidSafe Committee will be the final arbiter on what is an acceptable or unacceptable criminal history.
