In 2015, the Nationals launched Team UP a substantial, multi-faceted program with a mission to provide resources and programs that supports youth baseball and softball. Team UP provides at no cost uniforms, player visits, gameday experiences, recognition opportunities and recruiting assistance for its member leagues. In conjunction with Inova Health system, the program expanded in 2017 and 2018 within Northern Virginia and again into Maryland in 2020.
By providing uniforms at no cost, the Nationals goal is to break down financial barriers for families and reduce cost commitments for leagues. The additional experiences – player visits, tickets, gameday experiences – are a robust part of the program as Team UP cultivates the passion of young fans for the game of baseball.
Team UP supports 28 leagues in the following youth baseball organizations:
- District of Columbia: DC Little League, DC Parks and Recreation Rookie League
- Virginia: Virginia District 4 Little League, Virginia District 10 Little League, Virginia District 7 Cal Ripken Babe Ruth, Ft. Belvoir Little League, Quantico Youth Baseball
- Maryland: Montgomery County RBI, Prince George’s County RBI, Rockville Baseball Association (RBI)
Mason District Little League is a proud and grateful member of Team UP. MDLL families can register to receive emails directly from the Nationals about Team UP opportunities at www.nationals.com/TeamUPStayInTouch.
While all teams in the participating leagues are wearing Nationals uniforms the teams are differentiated through the use of various team styles and colors.
