2026 - Spring Season

Mason District Little League (MDLL) is a non-profit corporation registered with the Commonwealth of Virginia and chartered by Little League Baseball, Inc. The program is administered by a board of directors and is operated by volunteers. The board is elected at the annual meeting of the corporation held each year in the fall. Everyone associated with the league is urged to attend this meeting.

MDLL currently does not have softball, but we want to let families in the MDLL community know that they can sign up with Alexandria Little League to play softball. If there are enough kids from MDLL that sign up and a coach is identified, we will try to have the practices and some games held on the softball field at Mason District Park.

MDLL provides a safe and fun environment for children to learn lifetime skills — leadership, sportsmanship, and teamwork. Parents play a vital role in your child’s experience and are instrumental in making it a positive one. We encourage you to be involved and to help your child develop these new skills.

League administrators, managers, coaches, officials, and parents must work cooperatively to provide a safe and positive environment.

MDLL is completely administered and managed by volunteers. It is crucial that each player’s parents or guardian help the league. With your help, we can continue to ensure that the league is a safe, fun environment in which children can learn to play baseball, improve their athletic skills, and, most importantly, build and mold a positive character.

The league is divided into several levels of play ensuring that children participate at a level commensurate with their age, maturity, and ability. For baseball, MDLL offers four divisions within the Minor League (Tee-ball, A, AA, and AAA), a Majors division, an Intermediate division (50/70), and Juniors (60/90) and Seniors (60/90) when we have enough kids to play.

50/70 means that the pitchers mound is 50 feet from home plate and the base paths are 70 feet long. 60/90 is a normal sized field that the high schools use with the mound 60 feet from home plate and the base paths 90 feet long.

All teams are disbanded at the end of each season, and new teams are formed the following year. That said, the league tries to keep teams together from season- to-season and division-to-division within the Minors for the enjoyment of players and continuity of learning. This is, of course, dependent upon available Managers and Coaches, all of whom are volunteers, as well as the number of players within each division.

Before the start of the spring season, players who are candidates for AAA and above are required to participate in a skills assessment session that allows the Managers to place them into the level where they will be most successful. They will then be placed into a draft pool for assignment to a team so that we can ensure parity among the MDLL teams in each division.
