Farm Softball (League Age 7-9)

Farm softball is for girls who want to learn the fundamentals of hitting and fielding.  Rules of the game are modified to accommodate the need for teaching. The primary goals of Farm Softball are to instruct children in the fundamentals of softball and to allow them to experience the value of teamwork.

Players League Age 8 - 9 may play Farm Softball. Players League Age 7 may play Farm Softball if they have previously played two years of organized ball. Please use the League Age Chart to determine your child's League Age.

Contact Jeff Keller & Morgan Delaney at [email protected] if you have any questions about softball.

Team Formation

Farm Softball teams have approximately 9-10 players. SEPLL does its best to create teams by grouping children according to their neighborhoods and schools, while also ensuring a relative balance of ages among the teams.  We will do our best to honor requests to play with friends or a specific coach, but we cannot make any guarantees.

Team Practices

Teams may begin practicing in about mid-March.  How often a team practices is up to the manager. Farm Softball teams generally practice about 2 times per week until the regular season begins in early April.  After the regular season begins, team coaches determine the frequency of practices.

Team Games

Farm Softball teams play 2 games per week -  usually one at 6:00 pm during the week and one on Saturday.  Games are scheduled from early April through mid-June.  Games are limited to 1 hour and 30 minutes.  The first two innings are coach pitch, any remaining innings are player pitch. In late March the official schedule will be published at www.sepll.org.

Farm Softball follows the Little League Softball Official Regulations and Playing Rules unless otherwise stated in the District #2 Interleague rules.

Fees

Please visit the Fees page for information on our current fees. Scholarships are available to families in need. Contact the Player Agent or Treasurer for information on scholarships.

Uniforms and Equipment

Each player will receive a team hat and shirt.  Players are encouraged to wear “baseball” pants and cleats.

Players will need to bring their own glove to practice and games.  The League provides each team with bats, tees, balls and helmets.  Players are also welcome to bring their own equipment to use.

Volunteering

Parents and guardians are strongly encouraged to become involved in Little League to support league teams and players. After completing a Little League volunteer application and passing a required national background check, parents may become involved in practices, and be eligible as coaches, managers, umpires, local league board members and other volunteer positions within the league. Visit the Volunteers page to find out more about volunteering with SEPLL!
