Management Staff Bios

Executive Director - Louise Waxler

Louise has more than 30 years of experience in professional and amateur soccer management on the international and local levels. Her career began with the Soccer Association of Columbia (SAC) in 1987 as the Director of the Columbia Invitational Soccer Tournament followed by a position as Operations Director from 1989-1997. She joined the Maryland SoccerPlex in 2005 as Soccer Programs Director. She has held positions as General Manager for the Philadelphia Independence of Women's Professional Soccer; Director of Operations for the Washington Freedom (WUSA); and Operations Director at RFK Stadium for the 2003 FIFA Women's World Cup Tournament. Waxler was elected as the 58th President of the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) in 2006, as only the third female in the 69 years of the organization to hold the office of President. In 2010, Louise was a recipient of the NSCAA Women's Committee Award of Excellence which recognizes those who have brought honor and distinction to women's soccer. In October 2011, Louise was inducted into the Howard County Maryland Recreation and Parks Hall of Fame for her personal contributions and achievements in respect to community sports and was inducted into the Maryland Soccer Hall of Fame in 2018. Waxler also has her own foundation, Headers For Hope, which raises money through sport to help support the family and friends of those battling cancer.

Finance Director - Kelly Key

Kelly is the Finance Director for McLean Youth Soccer Association. She is responsible for the statutory and management accounting, tax, financial and other administrative needs of the organization and is a key advisor to the Executive Director, staff and Board on a wide range of business matters. Kelly started with the organization in December of 2013, most recently after a long career in the corporate finance arena. She's held management positions at various companies including K12, Intercall (formerly Genesys Conferencing), Cable & Wireless, Marriott International and Worldcom as well as several consulting positions. Her career started with her service in the United States Air Force. Kelly has personal experience with MYSA with children participating in both the rec and travel programs. She is also an active member of Executive Women's Golf Association, participating in a local weekly league. She studied Business and Management with a specialization in Accounting at the University of Maryland.

Operations Director - Annie Gavett

Annie Gavett joins McLean Youth Soccer as the Director of Operations. She comes to McLean by way of the Player Progression Academy (PPA) where she was the Director of Administration and Marketing for 2 years. In that role she spent one year abroad working entirely remote as part of a travel group called Remote Year. Her prior work includes working for the Maryland SoccerPlex, a private high school, the Bay School of San Francisco and various other non-profits. Annie hails from Montgomery County, Maryland and has an undergraduate degree in Business Administration from Saint Mary's College (Notre Dame, IN) and a Master of Arts in Sport Management from the University of San Francisco. She is also a former player in the D.C. metro area having played for OBGC, MSI and Calverton Soccer Club.

Travel and Communications Director - Marcia Sikes

Marcia is the Travel and Communications Administrator for McLean Youth Soccer. She previously held the position of Assistant Administrator for the club for two years before transitioning to her current position in December of 2018. Her responsibilities include all administrative duties for the Travel program, club communications and website content. Marcia has personal and volunteer experience with MYS having had children participate in both the Recreation and Travel programs. She has held positions with the Associated Press Broadcast Services and CLTV/Tribune Broadcasting. She has a Broadcast Journalism degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
