OUR MISSION

It is the mission of Westport PAL Girl’s Lacrosse to create a fun, safe and respectful environment for girls to learn the fundamental skills of lacrosse, regardless of race, creed, color, or economic circumstances.  Our goal is to instill in players of all abilities the love we share for the game, respect for their teammates, personal responsibility, a healthy competitive spirit, an understanding of good sportsmanship and fun for all athletes.

Our teams are open to girls who live in or attend school in Westport.  We welcome new players into our program at all ages and playing/ability levels. We do not cut anyone from our program.  Instead, we attempt to place each player on a team that will allow her to build her confidence and develop at the quickest pace while enjoying her experience.

The Westport PAL girls lacrosse program is one of many youth sports groups under the Westport Police Athletic League (PAL). The Westport PAL is a non-profit organization with a long history of successful youth sports programs. The organization has served the community for over 50 years. A girls lacrosse board of directors oversees both the administration of the program’s policies and the program’s operation throughout the year.  This board is comprised of a diverse group of volunteer coaches, non-coaching parents of players and local citizens.

There are plenty of volunteer opportunities at the board level, as team parents and as volunteer coaches.  If you would like to become more involved in girls lacrosse, please reach out to any one of the Board members or contact us below.

Notes:

  • Children YOUNGER than the birth dates with their grade have a choice to play with their grade or play with the younger grade. The child must elect which team they are trying out for PRIOR to tryouts and stay with that group for the season.
  • Children OLDER than the birth dates for their grade must play in the grade or age group their birthdate is linked to (play up).
  • Children in grades K-4 play with their grade.
  • Children older than the 3/1/2008 cut-off and in 8th grade may petition Westport PAL and CONNY if they wish to play.
  • Some areas of the Westport program will continue to have mixed grade-level teams.  These teams are required to play teams in their division.  For example, a 5-6 grade team can play any team in the Junior Division.  As is always the case, scheduling does consider the age, size and ability of our teams when selecting appropriate games.
  • Westport does not allow players to play in an older birth date range.
