Volunteers

FNLL relies on a devoted legion of adult volunteers to help ensure that the organization remains structured and runs smoothly. We are always looking for responsible and enthusiastic individuals to support and coordinate Little League events and activities. As a volunteer, you should have a keen interest in the safety, well-being, and overall development of children.

Anyone can apply to become a volunteer. Whatever talents or skills you have, we can use them! Across the country, Little League volunteers are grandparents, siblings, aunts and uncles, retirees, community leaders, former Little Leaguers, friends, neighbors, and more. Any community member who wishes to become a volunteer may apply.

Types of Volunteer Roles

COACHES
Responsible for providing an environment and level of instruction that will develop your Little Leaguers not just on the field, but off the field as well. Recognize solid play, and critique mistakes in a supportive way, while offering ideas on how to improve

TEAM PARENTS
Responsible for assisting the coach, being a parent liaison and the team communicator of FNLL events and activities.

CONCESSIONS
Responsible for the operation of the concession stand. While the Concession Manager ensures smooth operation of the snack bar and is responsible for the ordering of all supplies and food, Game Concession volunteers open and close the snack bars on game days.

FIELDS AND GROUNDS
Responsible for ensuring fields are safe, attractive and well kept, volunteers help with both preseason and regular maintenance.

Umpires

FNLL is committed to building and maintaining quality volunteer umpires.  Our umpires consist of long-term, new, and junior volunteers.  We share a love of the sport, a commitment to our community, and a desire to support our players and coaches.

Umpire training and clinics are conducted within our league, in Maryland District 2 (MD-2), and at annual clinics conducted by the Maryland State Umpires Association (MSUA).  We are always seeking new volunteer adult and junior umpires (age 13+).

Disclaimer

On rare occasions, Little League, through District Administrators and FNLL Board of Directors, may deny individuals the privilege of volunteering for reasons, past or present, that may be detrimental to the positive development of young people, other volunteers, and/or Little League International. When you apply to become a volunteer, you give the local Little League organization the right to conduct necessary background checks.
