PROGRAM OVERVIEW

PCS Basketball

PCS Basketball offers both winter recreational basketball leagues and more competitive spring travel teams for both boys and girls.

For more information on Girls Programming please click here     Girls Winter Season

Patriot Community Sports is striving to develop a year-round basketball program that prepares each student athlete with preseason training, in-season skill sharpening, post-season refinement and competitive travel team play.  We adhere to the policy that 95% of the game is played without the ball and for a player to keep advancing, they must develop an understanding of the team game.

PCS Basketball offers year-round programming:
Preseason Training: August through October

*Conditioning (Mental and physical)
*Speed, Agility, & Quickness
*Skills Training (Shooting, passing, dribbling, rebounding, defending, moving with/without ball)

Fall PCS Basketball Skills Training
PCS Basketball Skills Clinics are on Mondays and Wednesdays from 7:30pm-9:00pm and on Sundays from 2:00pm-4:00pm.  Tthe first clinic will be on August 18th and the last clinic will be October 15.  There will be no clinics on Wed 8/20, Sun 8/31, Mon 9/1 and Sun 10/5.  The location for the workouts is the Drummond Gymnasium which is on the high school campus of Mount Pisgah Christian School; the street address is 9875 Nesbit Ferry Road, Johns Creek, GA 30022.

For $175.00, players in 4th through 12th grades may come train on any or all of these days to prepare for the winter basketball season.  Training clinics will focus on fundamentals of shooting, passing, dribbling and defense as well as 2 and 3 person play.  Please bring your own basketball.  A second option is also available... for $100, players may attend on Sundays only.  We are offering this second option in recognition that many student athletes will never be able to attend the Monday or Wednesday workouts due to other fall sports.

In-Season Skill Sharpening: November through February
*Winter league play - weekly practice and games
*Clinics focusing on position-specific skills as well as overall player development

Post-Season Refinement & Competitive Travel Team Play: March through July
*Travel Team Tournament Play (AAU and YBOA)
*Evaluation Camps (Coast2Coast Regional Evaluation Camps)
*Position Specific Training Camps & Clinics
*Team Skill Development (Two Person & Three Person Play)

Levels of Play

Level I:
The basketball beginner is introduced to the game and its finer points for the first time. At this level, the most basic skills of shooting, passing, catching, dribbling and ball handling are taught. The rules of the game are discussed and basketball language is introduced.

Level II:          The player has an understanding of basic techniques and is able to perform skills in sequence. The importance of footwork and coordinated movement is introduced and emphasized. The player is able to incorporate their skills into actual play.

Level III:         The player has advanced out of the individual skill segment of their training and begins to work on developing team skills and skill without the ball: cutting, screening, movement, spacing, transition play, two-person play, three-person play and set play development.

Level IV:         The most advanced level in terms of skill development and team play. The player is able perform individual skills effortlessly within the framework of team play and has an advanced awareness of teammates and their positioning. This player has an understanding of how to make other players better and how to assume a roll within their team. The player is able to concentrate on the development of position-specific skills and knowledge.

Elite Player:     This player combines all of the above skills with the physical attributes that should enable them to advance to the college level. The player is able to physically adjust to the most advanced techniques and variations of the basic skills. The player has demonstrated knowledge of the skills required of a designated position and how to incorporate those skills within a team.
