Qualify for the state tournament at the 19th Annual Banks Classic Basketball Tournament! The Banks Classic Tournament is an official State Qualifier for the 2025 Oregon Middle School Basketball Championship to be held in Central Oregon on March 7-9 (GIRLS) and March 14-16 (BOYS).  All teams finishing 1st or 2nd in each division will qualify for the State Championship to battle top school teams from towns throughout Oregon.

Our tournament for boys and girls competitive teams, grades 5, 6, 7 and 8 is scheduled for Saturday-Sunday February 1-2, 2025 (Possible games on Friday night Jan 31 if there are teams available and interested).  Please pass along this information to your youth basketball coaches. Registration is on a first come, first served basis. The cost of the tournament is $300/team if registered and paid by December 15th, otherwise cost is $325 per team after December 15th.  There is a four game guarantee.   All levels of school based youth teams are encouraged to participate.  No All-Star teams, please.

We will play by OSAA High School rules except for the following:

• Games will be two 22 minute running clock halves.
  • Clock stops last two minutes of second half (will run if difference is 15 points or more).
  • Stop time for timeouts and injuries.
• 3 Minute Halftime.
• 3 Full Timeouts per game.
• Players will be allowed 5 fouls per game.  Regular shooting fouls.
• Each team will have 5 Minutes of on court warm-up time if available.  Have your team ready to play prior to your warm up time! We want to start each game on the hour.
• 2 Minute Overtime when necessary (1 timeout per team).  
  • Sudden Death on second overtime.
• No full court pressing when up by 20 points or more.
• All other OSAA Rules will be followed.
• No zone defense for 5th grade divisions only.  However, for 5th grade, man to man press with trapping as help defense in the backcourt is allowed (as long as within 20 points). 
• No backcourt violations (over and back) will be called in games held in the elementary school due to the compacted court size.   

No player can play on more than one team within the same division.

Game ball must be supplied by one of the teams playing and agreed upon by both coaches and referees. 7th and 8th boys will use men’s size ball (29.5). 5th and 6th boys and all girls will use a women’s size ball (28.5).

There will be awards for 1st place teams.

Please inform players’ parents there will be a daily admission charge of $10 for adults, $5 seniors, and $5 for students (ages 6-17). Children 5 and under are free.  Cash payments, or credit card via Venmo.

Games will be played in the Banks School District’s four gyms, which are all within easy walking distance of each other.
