All Competitive teams will have their official practice starting in November.

Who may try out for Classic Teams?
Tryouts are open to all 4th through 8th graders. 4th Graders may try out to make the 5th grade competitive team and should show up on the tryout date.  Note: 4th graders will be placed on a 5th grade team only if there are not enough 5th graders trying out.

Who will choose the teams? The high school head basketball coaches are in charge of this process and how it will be organized and run.

What is the cost? New player cost is $225 + $75 new uniform charge. Starting the 2023-24 season, we will be switching to new uniforms for all 5th-7th grade teams.  This is due to our older uniform style being discontinued.

Who will coach? Coaches need to apply online at https://clubs.bluesombrero.com/byb. Final coaching decisions will be made by the Banks High School basketball coaches and the BYBA Board.

Commitment level? These teams will play competitive basketball against other classic teams. Therefore, we want players who are committed to working hard, striving to improve, and are team oriented.  Players will be expected to attend all practices and games/tournaments.

Practice times? Classic teams will most likely practice 3-4 nights a week. Times will be determined by coaches and gym availability. Flexibility is a must. Once placed on a team, your coach will contact you with practice times.

Games/Tournaments? Teams will participate in several tournaments during the season*. These tournaments occur on weekends (Saturday and Sunday) and will be in the greater Portland area and as far away as Seaside and Bend. Some of our teams will participate Pacific Basketball League for boys and girls again this year.  This league consists of schools in westside metro area (Beaverton, Hillsboro, Forest Grove) and will have week night games.  There may also be occasional pick-up or practice games at various times. Dates and times of games and tournaments will come at a later date. Again flexibility is a must.
