Rheems Volleyball FAQ:

• What are the age restrictions for Rheems Summer Volleyball?
  • We will accept children age 8-16 so long as your 8 year old is strong enough to get the ball over the net. If you have a small 8 year old it may be worth it to let them grow one more year before trying this program.

• What do I need to bring with me to Rheems Summer Volleyball?
  • You should bring a drink/water bottle
  • We will always have cold water available in case you should forget or need a refill.
  • We play on grass so you don’t need to wear kneepads but you can if you would like.
  • You should wear sneakers.  Sandals or flip-flops are not safe.
  • Wear sunscreen, daily.
  • Volleyballs are provided.  Please do not bring your own volleyball to practice.

• Where do we play Volleyball?
  • Green Tree Fields (use Esbenshade Drive, Elizabethtown in your GPS)
  • **Leaving Elizabethtown heading toward Mt. Joy on Route 230:  Go to the intersection of the Elizabethtown Burger King, make a right at the light, you want to take the road that goes up and over a railroad bridge, after crossing the bridge there will be a 4-way Stop sign.  Go straight at the stop sign.  Continue about .8 mile and look for Esbenshade Drive on your left. Please do not block the road as this is also a driveway for a private residence. 

• What if it is raining or thunderstorms?
  • Our night to play volleyball is Monday.  If there is weather predicted for the 6:30-8:30 window we will cancel and try to play on Thursday night of that same week instead.
  • If we can predict bad weather soon enough to send an email we will notify via email if you have allowed that option. We try to make that call by 4:30pm.

  • If a storm comes up between 6:30-8:30 during playtime, parents/ride should be available for early pick up.  We have been very lucky the past few summers with the weather on Monday nights!

• What if I am on Vacation?
  • Have a great trip!  We will miss you but have fun we will see you when you get back!

• How many weeks does volleyball run?
  • Volleyball runs for approximately 8 weeks, Mid-June through Mid-August
  • 6:30-8:30, any special activities/schedule changes will be announced ahead of time.
  • Volleyball will be on Monday nights.
  • Rain Make-Up day Thursdays of the same week.

• Can I get an extra Rheems Volleyball shirt?
  • Sure, just let us know you are interested in one.  We will let you know the cost per shirt.  Player’s first shirt is included in the registration fee.

• Who coaches Rheems Summer Volleyball?
  • All coaches are volunteers
  • All coaches have had qualifying background checks as required by Rheems AA.
  • All coaches have volleyball experience, have a love for the game and are paying it forward to the younger generation.
