San Marino Community Athletics Association is a non profit organization founded in 2006 by a group of parents who saw a greater vision for youth sports in San Marino directly supporting and developing the kids in our community. It began with a youth flag football and basketball league, which served over 300 San Marino kids in 3rd through 6th grade. The organization was formed to further and promote the development of amateur sports education and programs at a higher level for the students of San Marino. SMCAA focuses on providing high quality instruction to the participants to ensure better prepared athletes for our high school sports as well as promote the positive community aspects of sports participation by teaching and modeling good sportsmanship. Importantly, it has helped to build a community spirit and strengthen the ties for our youth to San Marino High School. Our high school athletes who volunteer at the youth camps and help to referee games become positive role models for our San Marino youth.
In addition to developing and managing these sports programs, SMCAA always had a vision of giving back to our community and supporting the district through support of athletic program needs. They have funded many projects in our district such as: glass backboards on the outdoor basketball courts at Huntington Middle School and the High School, Purchased new scoreboards in the large gym at SMHS, purchased equipment and funded training for the high school weight room, they have also funded the San Marino City track meet for the last 3 years.
SMCAA is entering its 14th year and has grown at an incredible rate. It now serves over 600 kids in San Marino from Kindergarten through 12th grade with leagues, clinics, and off-season high school programs. The sports included now are/have been: Flag Football, boys and girls basketball, baseball, softball, volleyball and water polo. Each program with the same goal in mind: Giving opportunities to our youth to become a better prepared athlete through practice, focus, discipline and a higher level of coaching
