Lost and Found List

Selected NA Soccer Club Policies:

Player Safety

North Allegheny Soccer Club policy requires each player's parent or legal guardian to attend each practice and game in which such player participates.  The Club is not responsible for any player who becomes injured during any practice, player development program or game or otherwise requires the care and attention that can only be provided by such player's parents or guardian.

Every player's parent agreed to the above statement when they checked the required box at the end of the registration process.  We ask that all parents strongly consider what it says.  NASC fully understands that parents often have multiple children at various sites simultaneously.  However, we strongly recommend parents have someone other than their child's coach (unless the coach is a personal friend who agrees to be "guardian for the day" of your child) present at any soccer event.  Carpools are great, especially when gas is around $3/gallon.  However, please have the carpool driver stick around..  If a player gets injured, it is often not feasible or appropriate for the coach to attend to one child while 10 - 15 other children are running around.  NASC policy also instructs coaches, for their safety as well as that of the children, never to be the ONLY adult at a field.  (see the Coaches Handbook)  All volunteers are required to complete a volunteer disclosure form when they register to help, but we still do not want to place any child or adult in a potentially compromising situation.  Please exercise prudent care with your children while they are involved in soccer.

Dogs and Soccer Fields

Longstanding NASC policy states that dogs are not permitted on our fields during games and/or practices.  This is for both child safety and sanitation reasons.  Now define “field”.  We don’t want to get the lawyers involved here, but what we mean is the area in which the players are or may be playing soccer.  Basically that means the grass on and around the playing field.  At the McKinney Complex you may interpret this to mean inside the fence or posts.  None of the NASC fields are owned by NASC. Many are public park lands used under contract by NASC with some municipal government.  Park policies vary by location and the public has the right to use these lands in an appropriate fashion. Bottom Line:  All NASC members  (parents and players) are requested to keep their pets safely away from the playing areas.

Field Safety

NASC volunteers try very hard to provide a safe and fun environment for our players to play soccer in.  A large percentage of our annual budget is spent fertilizing, mowing, repairing, and seeding our many fields.  We also spend considerable monies on goals, nets, and related equipment.  With all of that in mind, we still need the help of our coaches and parents to ensure our fields remain safe.  Before games and practices, please check your field.  If anything is wrong either fix it or report to a Board member as soon as possible.

First and foremost:  All metal goals must be weighted or otherwise secured at ALL times!  We provide sandbags for this purpose.  If you must move a goal at practice, please make sure enough adults help so no one gets injured.  Once you set it down, ensure that it is securely weighted.

Second:  Be aware of your environment!  Is it cold and wet?  Watch out for muscle strains or injuries. Is it windy?  If so, be careful around the goals, even the plastic ones.  Are thunderstorms forecast?  Keep an ear for thunder and watch out for lightning!  PAWest game policy uses the 30-30 Rule.  This rule states that if thunder is heard within 30 seconds of seeing lightning, then 30 minutes must elapse until play may continue.  Get off the field and get your players in cars until a safe period as elapsed or call it a day and try again another.

Third, Field conditions:  NASC prides itself on having some of the finest soccer fields in the area.  However that requires field maintenance to occur when needed.  If you see areas which have been freshly seeded, please try and stay clear.  Wet spots or puddles; same thing try and keep away.  Use common sense!!  Move your players around during practice and do the best you can to mitigate wear in the same spot over and over, especially within the goal areas.

Injuries

PA WEST

All players are covered by supplemental insurance from our state association, PAWest.  Insurance claim forms may be found on the PAWest website (.PDF format).  Any player injured severely enough at a practice or game to require medical attention, should report the incident to their coach as soon as possible.  Claims must be made with in 30 days of the event and the coach or referee need to attest that the injury did occur while playing soccer.  If during a game with a referee, please ask the referee to submit an injury report to PAWest.  Coaches should contact either their age group coordinator or the NASC President to report the event as soon as possible.

TO BE UPDATED

Recreational (In-house) Reversible Jersey procedure:

All players in the recreational soccer programs that play within NASC (U6 up to U9/10 plus the U12 Boys Rec program) need a properly fitting NASC reversible jersey in decent condition to wear for Saturday games.  Any player who does not own a usable jersey from a previous season should order one during the registration process.  If you need to order a jersey after already registering for a program, contact either the
Registrar or your program's Coordinator to have the jersey fee added to your account.  Your account will be billed and you can make payment from the "Your File" page of this website.

Reversible shirts will be available at
Soccer Source, (the corner of Perry Highway(Rte 19) and the Yellow Belt next to Bruster's) during normal business hours prior to the start of the season.  (Check the Calendar for the first date of availabiltiy.)  There will be a list on hand of all folks who purchased a shirt.  If you did not purchase a shirt or for some reason you are not on the list, there will be a form to fill out to receive a shirt.  No money is required, your account will be billed.  Sizes range form Youth Medium to Adult Large.  Soccer Source is not responsible for the stock of shirts on hand.  If for some reason, a shirt size is not available, Soccer Source will notify the club and we will provide more stock within a few days.  Please be patient with the store, they are helping NASC with distribution.  While you are there, please consider patronizing this fine local establishment committed to soccer!

Travel team (Sunday games) procedure:

Sit down with your young child player and help them understand how it works. (This "Law" is not enforced until U11 and older for NASC players.)
