FAQ:
Q:  When can I sign up my child to play baseball?
A:  The Enrollment page goes live on January 1st.  Please sign up early so we can begin identifying the number of teams and coaches we'll need.  On Feb 1st, a $15 late signup fee will be added to any order.  Signups close on the Wednesday before the draft, which is also the Wednesday after the second evaluation.  Once signups are closed, players will be added to a wait-list.  Although we'll do our best to place players from the wait-list on a team, there are no guarantees it'll happen.

Note:  There are uncommon circumstances when an age group can fill up prior to the close date - we saw that happen during enrollment for the 2020 season.  To avoid this, I recommend to sign up during the month of January.

Q:  My child is new to Spring baseball, what are we in for and how much will it cost?
A:  Fun, exciting games, big wins, games that keep you on the edge of your seat, and friendships that will last for years!  The enrollment page has pricing options for each age division

Q:  How does it all work?
A:  Beginning in the Fall, a committee of experienced, competitive coaches begin reviewing the rules for the upcoming season, and those rules are published on this website in January.  Also in January, we hold three sign-ups for players and prospective coaches.  In February we'll hold player evaluations and then hold a draft for coaches to select their teams.  We'll begin practicing that last week of February and play games through the middle of May.  Afterward, a tournament team we call the "Hendersonville Select" team will represent our city in District, State, and Regional tournaments.

Q:  Must all players attend evaluations?
A:  No - only players that are new to a Spring age division.  For example:
- If your child was 9yrs old last season and played as a 9yr old on the 10U A's, then he/she will return to the 10U A's for the current season and does not need to attend evaluations - but they still need to sign up!!
    - If a player is entering an Spring age division, such as moving up from 6U to 8U (regardless of where they played in the Fall or Summer) then he/she will need to attend evaluations
    - If a player is new to Spring baseball, even if they are in the older half of an age division, then they must attend evaluations
    - If a player is "protected" then they will not be required to attend evaluations

Q:  How do I know if my child is a "protected" player
A:  A child is considered protected from being drafted by other coaches if the coach has turned in a Player Protection form.  The form must be signed by the coach and a parent/guardian.  Coaches have strict guidelines regarding their protected players, which are outlined in the rules linked on this webpage

Q:  If a player is new to the league/age division and does not attend evaluations, will they still get on a team?
A:  Yes, as long as the player is signed up before the enrollment window closes on first Wednesday after the second evaluation.  In that case the player is considered a blind draw and will be assigned to a team.

Q: What happens if I enroll my child after signups close?
A:  The player is placed on a wait list, and you are not charged the entry fee until the player is placed on a team.  We'll do our best to place the player on a team, but there are no guarantees it'll happen.

Q:  Which age division will my child play in?
A:  A child's "playing age" is determined by how old they will be on April 30 (of the year in which the season is to be played) - and assigned to the appropriate age division

Q:  How flexible is the playing age requirement?
A:  That depends - if during evaluations they player scores well enough against players in the next higher age division, then a request to play up can be submitted to the Hendersonville Civitan Baseball Committee for review.  Historically, the evaluation serves as a good litmus test to identify if a player is ready to move up.  Players are not, however, eligible to 'play down' into a lower age division

Q:  Anything new for the 2020 season?
A:  Lots!!  Be on the lookout for some exciting announcements about the new things you'll see in our parks this Spring - stay tuned!
