The Steamboat Soccer Club, Grassroots Program is an in-house recreational program designed for ages 4-8 wanting to discover the game of soccer in a fun, inclusive, learning friendly environment. Player's meet two times per week.  The first session works on skill development through fun play-practice-play activities. Thursday's will be "Game Day". The games are 4v4 without goalkeepers.  Volunteer parents coach teams with support from the Steamboat Soccer Club coaching staff.  (This program would not exist without parent coaches!  Please consider volunteering.) The focus is on individual ball skills and having FUN!  

We will offer two locations for training. This gives you the opportunity to select the time, day, and locations that works best for you during the registration.

Choose from: U5-U6 (Birth years 2018-2019):
Mondays at Sleeping Giant School- 4:15-5:00 pm or 5:15-6:00pm.
Tuesdays at Emerald Park- 4:15-5:00 pm or 5:15-6:00pm.
All games will be held on Thursday at Sleeping Giant School. Game times vary from week to week. The game schedule will be posted prior to the start of the season.

This program is open to all players born in 2014-2015, regardless of skill level and experience. The U9-U10 Grassroots Recreational Program is an in-house recreational soccer league with a more advanced curriculum. We offer both Spring and Fall programs. This group plays on gender specific teams. Players begin to develop individual technical abilities, although the focus is on fun! The first day of each week consists of a practice format including skills building and inter-team play. The second day of each week will be Game Day. These teams play in a 7v7 format with a goalkeeper.

All games will be held on Thursdays at Memorial Field or Sleeping Giant School. The game times will vary from week to week and the game schedule will be posted prior to the start of the season.

For Fall of 2023 we will be offering an additional day of training for any U9-12 players that are signed up for our U9-10 Recreational or U11-12 Competitive programs. This additional training day will be offered every Wednesday ONLY at Emerald Park, from either 4:00-5:15pm or 5:30-6:45pm depending on the age group (see above).

Is your soccer player invested in and enjoying soccer so much that they wish to add an additional day of training? This program is designed for players who want more, and are looking to put in the extra-effort to excel on the soccer field.

U9-10 Academy players will also have the opportunity to participate in games outside of their recreational games, either in a league or tournament format, details TBD. Any league or Tournament fees are included in the registration. The U11-12 program does not include a tournament.
