The entirety of the game can be broken down into four widely accepted Phases of Play. Within each Steamboat Soccer identifies which of our Principles of Play apply within each Phase of the Game as seen below.

After considering what Principles of Play are applicable to the Phase of the Game. We then ask our Coaches to be conscious of where the actions that they are trying to improve would take place in a match and how will that influence their training sessions and educational efforts for thier players. As we apply each Principle of Play in a Phase of Play, coaches should also consider what we call our Macro Principles of Play.
