MACRO PRINCIPLES

The game can be broken down into three horizontal thirds and five vertical channels that are often used in reference when teaching or developing players

By dividing the playing field into different thirds and channels coaches can dig even deeper contextually into the game and come up with team specific game models that represent how they ideally want their teams to play based on the make up of their players and teams in an effort to maximize player development and learning. We ask our coaches to start with our guiding principles as a club and then consider our Principles of Play as they relate to the four phases of the game, and then consider our Macro Principles seen below in relation to each third of the field; to create their own micro and individual principles or ideas of how they want their teams to play and use these as teaching aids for our players as best fits their teams.

When designing training sessions and teaching players how we want them to play the game, we ask our coaches to consider SSC's Club Macro Principles and how they relate to our Principles of Play and Phase of the Game. While also considering how these Principles of Play relate to each position, in each phase of play, and in relation to where on the field. We call these our Club Micro Principles.
