The mission of the Soccer Parenting Association is to inspire players by empowering parents.

·      We believe youth soccer parents will be difference makers when it comes to improving the game.

·      We believe when parents seek information about how to best support their player, great things will happen.

·      We believe a collaborative environment between coach, parent, club, and player is in the best interest of player development.

·      We believe a strong and supportive community of level-headed and like-minded parents and coaches will inspire players.

Like you, I am a soccer parent. I am also a former professional player, collegiate coach, and active youth soccer coach, speaker and coach educator. I am positive that the information you now have access to on the SoccerParentResourceCenter.com platform will help your child thrive and feel inspired on the field and in life.

I look forward to connecting with in the Community Forum. If you have any questions, suggestions, or ideas for articles, please don’t hesitate in reaching out.

Let’s Keep Going,

PARENT EXPECTATIONS

The parent or guardian plays a key role in the development and experience of their child. They have a tremendous influence on the values, attitude, and outlook on the life that a child develops, including those related to playing soccer. Your child's success or lack of success in sports does not indicate what kind of parent you are. But having an athlete that is coachable, respectful, a great teammate, mentally tough, resilent, and tries their best IS a direct reflection of your parenting. Steamboat Soccer Club parents will abide by the Parent Code of Conduct:

  1. Parents should provide encouragement and create a good learning environment.
  2. Young players benefit from guidance, and mentorship of both Parents and Coaches, and as a parent I am not a coach. And I will respect the different roles and perspectives.
  3. Guide child in the proper commitment level of being a member of a team, as it relates setting priorities in day-to-day life.
  4. Make sure child is on time to practices.
  5. Each of us must set an example of good behavior and sportsmanship for our children. Do not coach from the sideline nor make any negative comments. Cheer, encourage and applaud the efforts of the players. Keep all comments positive.
  6. Verbal harassment or criticism of referees, coaches, or players, by anyone is unacceptable conduct. Harassment of any kind directed toward coaches, players and officials will not be tolerated.
  7. Physical contact or violence or threat of physical contact or violence directed toward anyone including referees is unacceptable conduct.
  8. Consumption of any alcoholic beverages or illegal drugs at soccer games is not acceptable.
  9. Encourage your child to approach their coach and communicate any concerns or questions.
  10. If you feel the need to communicate to the coach regarding any situation involving your player or their team please respect a 24 hour "reflection" period before doing so. Please be courteous and respectful to the coach as to how and when you initiate such communication. Please keep in mind that although perspectives may differ at times your coaches biggest goal is to help your player develop to their fullest potential and desires as a person and a player. All communication should be initiated with this in mind and in an effort to work with my child's coaches not against.
  11. Encourage your child to touch the ball outside of scheduled practices and games.
  12. Communicate through Team App and update attendance in a timely matter for your child.
  13. Volunteer when possible. Without volunteers, the Club would not exist. If you are interested in helping, please contact Jan.[email protected]
  14. I will help my child abide by the Player Code of Conduct.
