Which grade should I sign my child up for?
Register your child for the grade they will be in at the time of the season. For example, when signing your child up for fall soccer, if he or she will be entering Kindergarten in fall, you should sign him or her up for Kindergarten. Then when registering them for spring soccer of the same school year, you would again register for Kindergarten.
How do I sign up?
I don't like my child travel team placement, how was it made?
Our travel teams play in CMYSL which is a competitive league consisting of Divisions 1, 2 and 3, we place players on those teams based on the best matched skill level of the players. We use players coach evaluations and player assessment scores to assess the players which help to ensure players are placed on the correct teams. We review all team and player placements in meetings where age group coordinators, age group directors, the president, vice president, and director of player and coach development meet to review, discuss and come to a final decision. This decision is reviewed and ultimately decided upon by CMYSL. For our player placement policy click here.
Which size soccer ball should I purchase for my child?
- Size 3 for Grade 2 and under
- Size 4 for Grade 3-6
- Size 5 for Grade 7 and up
What is the travel uniform requirement?
Players are required to have an HYS travel uniform for travel teams. Your child will be assigned a number, and you will receive an email with instructions for ordering.
We live in another town, but my child attends school in Holden. Can I register my child for Holden Youth Soccer?
Yes. When you register, a waiver request will be sent to your town’s soccer organization for approval.
Is financial aid available?
Holden Youth Soccer does offer full and partial financial aid to assist families with registration expenses. Anyone interested should contact the registrar. [email protected]
I registered my kid to play soccer and I haven’t heard anything. What do I do?
Don't worry, there is a lot of work that goes on behind the scenes to prepare of the upcoming season, field, teams, uniforms, insurance, coaches, schedules. You will hear from your age group director or coach soon. If you have questions reach out to us via e-mail. Contacts are here.

When do we get a uniform?
All in-town players will come through the jersey station or receive a jersey from their coach on the first gameday. Any shorts or socks are acceptable for in-town; players only receive jerseys. For travel teams you will receive an order link from soccer.com once your registration is complete and your child has been assigned to a team. Also see the uniform page.
What should my kid bring to soccer?
Players need to bring an inflated soccer ball, soccer cleats or sneakers, shin-guards, and a water bottle. No baseball or football cleats allowed.
When is practice?
There are no weekday practices for our Futures program (Pre-K - Grade 2). The other age-groups are team/coach dependent, so practice times can vary. Your age-group director or coach will identify your practice time and communicate that to you prior to the season starting.
Where do I go for soccer?
We host most of our in-town programs are at Davis Hill Elementary School (80 Jamieson Road), but our older teams can practice of have games at HMLD, Mount View or the High School. Our locations are here.
How long is the season?
Our seasons typically run for approx. 8 weeks, with no programs on major holidays like memorial day or easter.
