Holden Youth Soccer

FAQs

What programs do you offer?

We offer recreational soccer, travel soccer, supplemental training, and soccer for children with disabilities. See our Programs page for details.

Which grade should I sign my child up for?

Register your child for the grade they will be in at the time of the season. For example, when signing your child up for fall soccer, if he or she will be entering Kindergarten in fall, you should sign him or her up for Kindergarten. Then when registering them for spring soccer of the same school year, you would again register for Kindergarten.

How do I sign up?

What equipment does my child need?

Your child will need cleats, shin pads, a soccer ball, and a water bottle.

Which size soccer ball should I purchase for my child?

  • Size 3 for Grade 2 and under
  • Size 4 for Grade 3-6
  • Size 5 for Grade 7 and up

What is the spring travel uniform requirement?

Players are required to have an HYS travel uniform for travel teams. Your child will be assigned a number, and you will receive an email with instructions for ordering.

We live in another town, but my child attends school in Holden. Can I register my child for Holden Youth Soccer?

Yes.  When you register, a waiver request will be sent to your town’s soccer organization for approval.

Is financial aid available?

Holden Youth Soccer does offer full and partial financial aid to assist families with registration expenses. Anyone interested should contact the registrar.

I registered my kid to play soccer and I haven’t heard anything. What do I do?

Bring your registration confirmation to Davis Hill Elementary School at the prescribed day/time for your child’s grade-level

I signed my kid up for the wrong age-group/program. What do I do?

Bring your registration confirmation to Davis Hill Elementary School at the prescribed day/time for your child’s correct grade-level

When do we get a uniform?

All in-town players will come through the jersey station or receive a jersey from their coach on the first gameday. Any shorts or socks are acceptable for in-town; players only receive jerseys.

What should my kid bring to soccer?

Players need to bring an inflated soccer ball, soccer cleats or sneakers, shin-guards, and a water bottle. No baseball or football cleats allowed.

When is practice?

There are no weekday practices for pre-K, Kindergarten, 1st grade, or grade 2/3 programs. The other age-groups are team/coach dependent, so practice times can vary. Your age-group coordinator or coach will identify your practice time.

Where do I go for soccer?

We host most of our in-town programs at Davis Hill Elementary School (80 Jamieson Road). TOPSoccer is at Mountview Middle School.

How long is the season?

The in-town season for spring 2022 runs from Saturday 4/23 to Sunday 6/12, with no programs on Memorial Day weekend.
