Welcome to the PV Flag Football League! Our Flag division is no longer associated with Pop Warner due to having too few teams to play. But we have enough participation to host our own leage which means all games are played locally! Flag Football reamains a division of Palos Verdes Youth Football and Cheer Association (PVYF&C) but we have created a websited dedicated to our flag program at www.pvflagfootball.com where you can find more detailed information and flag registration.
FLAG REGISTRATION (click link) is on a different website dedicated to PV Flag Football.
COMMITMENT
Flag Football requires a commitment from the participant as well as the parents. The football games require knowledgeable and well conditioned participants for the entire team to succeed. If your child is not participating in practices, they will not be effective in the team environment. We encourage players to attend every practice unless sick or injured. Attending consistent practices also helps to prevent injury and accidents.
PRACTICES
Practice begins mid August and are typically 2-3 days per week and generally last 1.5 to 2 hours (coach discretion).
All practices for all divisions will be at at local field on the Palos Verdes Peninsula. Coaches determine individual team practice times, but practices times are generally held weekdays anywhere between 4:30 and 7pm.
Flag football teams may engage in inter-league scrimmages before the regular season begins.
GAMES
Games are held on Saturdays beginning September 7 through November 9. Each team will play one game a week unless it is a bye week. Game times are normally (but not always) scheduled from youngest teams playing earliest (8:30 a.m.) and the oldest finishing out the day. Note: Most teams arrive at least one hour prior to game start to warm up and do run throughs.
All games are played at:
Palos Verdes Peninsula High School - 27118 Silver Spur Rd, Rolling Hills Estates, CA 90274
OR
Palos Verdes High School - 600 Cloyden Rd, Palos Verdes Estates, CA 90274
FLAG FOOTBALL SAFETY
Our players wear soft helmets and are trained to play safely to avoid injury. A medic is present at each game and coaches are trained in CPR and concussion awareness.
