ZERO Tolerance, REF abuse Updated

The CT State Referee Program, with the full support of CJSA, has instituted a Give the Game Back to the Kids initiative effective this season.

Full details are here: https://www.ctreferee.net/give-the-game-back-to-the-kids/

ZERO TOLERANCE Protocols concerning misbehavior by Spectators and Coaches.

Coach Misbehavior- At the first sign of dissent from a coach, the referee will give them a Yellow Card immediately.  If they continue, they will get a 2nd Yellow Card for Dissent and then a Red Card and send off the coach.  If they do not leave directly, then the referees will abandon the match. Any coach sent off must be completely out of sight and sound of the field before the match can resume.

Spectator Misbehavior- If spectators are interfering or creating distractions, the referee will stop the match, require BOTH COACHES to identify the disruptors and instruct them to leave immediately.  If they do not comply promptly then the referees will abandon the match. Anyone dismissed must be completely out of sight and sound of the field before the match can resume.

In support of this initiative, the SWD District Discipline Committee as of now:
Requires that any game that is halted for issues regarding Spectators, will automatically be placed under Silent Sidelines protocol for the remainder of the match.  As part of the conversation with spectators when the match is halted, BOTH COACHES must inform the spectators that Silent Sidelines is now in force.  This is the coach's responsibility, not the referees.
Silent Sidelines- The guidelines are simple. Spectators are to be quiet, talking in a normal tone to the person next to them. What is to be avoided are comments that can be heard by players, referees or opponents. Applause is permitted and encouraged.

When a match is halted for any reason, this does not signal the start of any debate or discussion.  Coaches and Spectators are expected to comply and act immediately.

If you have questions or concerns about anything that takes place at a match, they should only be addressed to your Club President.  Do not engage the referees.

Good luck to all our players and teams this season,
CJSA Southwest District Executive Director
