Players are strongly encouraged to attend the session. If the player doesn't attend the evaluation session, team assignments must be done based on previous coach and trainer rankings. The session is run by the soccer trainers/evaluators and closely resembles a typical practice.
For transparency, the basic process is as follows: create player rankings by gender/age group, calculate number of teams by gender/age, assign players to teams, and recruit/assign parent coaches.
More detailed information on the process for those who are interested at the bottom of this page*
The MYSC board and Travel Committee makes every effort to create the best possible environment for our players' development. We want them to have a team where the competition level is appropriate so they can develop their skills and confidence as players. Please understand that being assigned to a travel team doesn't decide their future in the sport-- it is just a stepping stone for development. Regardless of what team your player is assigned, please help them to take it as an opportunity for growth and to remember, this is all about having FUN!
Thanks for supporting your soccer player!

* Player evaluations are done based on the four pillars of player development.
Link to four pillars of player development
. Player evaluations are done by each parent coach and professional trainer who works with the team for the fall and spring seasons.
The following data sets are combined to create the player rankings:
1) Spring travel evaluation grades and comments
2) Head and Assistant coach evaluations
3) Team Trainer evaluations
Using this information, overall player rankings are developed by the Travel Committee. The Travel Committee is composed of the travel coordinators, director of training, club president, vice president and travel registrar.
The Travel Committee first determines how many teams can be formed based on how many players tried out. From there, players are assigned based on rankings to the available teams. At this point, the preliminary teams are formed and can be announced. Later in the summer after registration, teams can be adjusted based on enrollment. The final phase is identifying, recruiting and assigning parent coaches.
