Season Delayed Due to COVID-19

Unfortunately, we will be unable to begin our season in August 2020.  Please see below for additional information for each of our programs: tackle, flag, cheer and challengers. As you know, guidelines, recommendations and requirements have been evolving regularly as it relates to the Covid-19 pandemic. 

Thank you for your patience and support while we navigate this challenging situation. The Southern Section of CIF announced their new sports schedule wherein all high school sports will now take place beginning mid-December.  The California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) is the governing body for high school sports in the state of California.  Although we are neither associated or governed by the CIF, their actions are a good indication of the safe return to youth sports.

Mavericks Tackle Football:
The Southern California Conference (SCC) Executive Board decided to move forward with a tackle football season that mirrors the CIF-SS calendar which begins with practices on December 14th.  The PV Youth Football & Cheer tackle division will move forward with the revised calendar rather than canceling our season.

Mavericks Cheer:

The SCC Cheer Directors are working closely together to come up with options for the cheer season.  A brief cheer specific survey will be coming out to gauge interest level with the different options the  Cheer Directors are exploring that will take place in the winter/spring.

Mavericks Flag Football:

We will be unable to start the season in August as planned.  Flag football will also be delayed until December.  Stay tuned for additional information as it becomes available.

Challenger Football & Cheer:

We are unable to begin this program during our regular season beginning in August.  We will notify our Mavericks Challenger community when we have updates.

It’s our goal to provide the best possible programs for the families in our community so everyone has an opportunity to participate football and cheer.  The safety of our participants and volunteers are of the utmost importance and when we are cleared to proceed, we will implement proper Covid-19 safety precautions in accordance with the LA County Health Department.  Please direct any questions or comments to Laura Hughes at [email protected].

Registration will be extended through the start of our season. If you have paid, but are unable to participate in football or cheer during the updated season timeframe, please contact us at [email protected] to request a refund. All refund requests will be honored.
