ABOUT THE PROGRAM
Smyrna Soccer Club's Player Development Program (PDP) is a unique soccer development program for Under 8 soccer players which aims to accelerate the technical and tactical development of players preparing to participate in the U9 Academy program. We have recognized that there are many talented U8 players within our club and in GA who would benefit from a dedicated soccer environment to continue to nurture player ability and prepare them for higher-level soccer.
The program is dedicated to 6, 7, 8 year old players who wish to be exposed to professional coaching and have a serious desire to improve as players and show a commitment to the game. We believe that the program will grow from strength to strength as we endeavor to produce technically gifted players who understand the tactical implementations of the game.
This year there will be over 50 players participating in our PDP Program which is made up of a professional coaching team of five coaches and volunteer coaches who are enrolled in the Mentoring Coach Program. "In House Games" will take place every Saturday at 2 pm (Jonquil Park) and throughout the course of the season will play in a select few tournaments and fixtures against other Metro Atlanta Clubs.

Our Player Development Program is a pathway into our successful Academy Program. Training twice a week with team of professional coaches, Smyrna SC will provide a positive learning environment that will challenge your player(s) to become better. With this, our PDP Program is for the talented and dedicated soccer player(s). All our PDP players are identified though an assessment at the start of each season or through our Scouting Network that identifies players from within our Recreational Program.
Our PDP Program is available to players aged 5 - 8 years old and is a seasonal commitment so Fall or Spring seasons. Most players do commit for the full year but we do understand at this younger age you may want to try other sports and this is not a problem.

Our PDP Program Coaches are some of the finest in the club. As teachers of the game first, they also have experience working with younger children and are US Youth Soccer licensed. They understand what players need to learn at this age and also ways to motivate younger children.

Our coaching staff will follow both Smyrna Soccer Club Player Development Curriculum and Clubs Philosophy's to create a positive learning environment for all our players. Each Practice Session will focus on developing a players individual skills and will challenge players to improve on a daily basis.
You can also expect our training sessions to:
- Maintain a low player to coach ratio,
- Maximize the time your player has with a ball,
- Maximize the repetitions and touches on the ball,
- Encourage creativity and experimentation.
Our PDP Program will train twice a week with an optional third session for those that chose.

Goalkeepwes are invited to a one hour FREE Session focusing on the art of Goalkeeping (Time and Location TBD).
The highlight of our Player Development Program is the Weekend Games. Every weekend all players will participate in games verses our local recreational teams or other PDP Programs.

Without any pressure on winning our professional coaching staff will encourage player to practice what they have learnt during the week and use their new skills in a game environment.
Attending players will be placed on teams by the coaching staff. Roster may vary from week to week depending on the coaches thoughts.
* PLEASE NOTE Occasional we may also chose to showcase our PDP Teams against other local Metro Atlanta Club. When such games are schedules times and locations may change to accommodate these scrimmages.
