· JBO guidelines indicate how many teams we will have at each level. For example, if there are 6 teams in a particular division, there will be 1 Federal team, 2 American teams and 3 National teams. Teams within a level will be balanced as much as possible by a draft. The Federal team is selected first followed by American and then National.
· Assessments are generally held in late January / early February and are required for all players. If a player is unable to attend assessments, they will be placed at the National level. All registered players will be placed on a team - there are no “cuts”.
· Players are scored on a 1-5 scale in a number of areas such hitting, fielding, throwing, fly balls, cutoffs and long toss. The assessors are made up of PYS Board Members and HS coaches. Whenever possible, any board members or coaches who have children playing at a particular level will not score that division. For example, if a board member has a child playing at the Junior division, he / she may score Minors and Seniors but would not score the Junior division.
· After the assessments are complete, the top 20 players at each division may be invited back for a Federal call-back. This is an opportunity for coaches to get another look at the potential players prior to team selection. The Federal team(s) are drafted first followed by the American and National levels. If there are multiple teams at any level, a draft is held for coaches to select players and form a balanced team.
· Additional tournaments are available. Most teams will play 1-2 additional tournaments throughout the season. Teams at the Federal & American levels will likely participate in more.
· Each season, CCJBA holds a county tournament in early to mid-July. Teams that finish in the top 50% are eligible for postseason play and the top 8 at any division / level will make the county tournament. The top 2-3 teams from county will be eligible to participate in the state tournament the following weekend.
