Who can play?
While TEAM's focus is on providing opportunities to play organized sports for Toledo Public School (TPS) children, the league is open to all age-appropriate youth in Northwest Ohio and Southeast Michigan.
When does registration open and close?
Registration generally opens 2 months before the first practice and is open for 3 weeks. Check out our year long calendar here to see information specific to your sport.
When does the season start?
Check out our year long calendar here to see when games are played.
When does practice start?
Practices begin as late as one week before the first game of the season, sometimes sooner. The start of practices is dependent upon many factors, such as: when each team receives willing parents to coach, when volunteers have completed all of the required steps to make them eligible to coach, and permits through TPS for gyms. There are many steps, so please be patient.
Where are practices held?
TEAM works with TPS and The City of Toledo (depending on the sport) to identify where we can hold practices.
For basketball, we do our best to schedule practices at the school closest to your team, but we are at the mercy of TPS providing us with enough gyms and times for practices.
For baseball, we hold practice at Willy's field, Copeland field, Elmhurst Elementary School, and Woodsdale park.
For soccer, practice is held at the CYO fields, Grove Patterson Elementary, DeVeaux Elementary, and Elmhurst Elementary.
Where are games held?
Basketball games are held on the campus of the University of Toledo at the Student Recreation Center and Health Sciences Building.
Baseball and soccer games are held at the CYO fields - 555 S Holland Sylvania Road in Toledo, OH 43615
How often will teams practice?
Practices are once per week. In some cases, a coach may choose to practice twice per week, but that is dependent upon permits and location availability.
Who are the coaches?
TEAM is a volunteer organization and relies heavily on the parents of the children to volunteer as coaches. We ALWAYS have more kids who want to play than parents who want to coach, so we will form teams without an identified coach and reach out to parents on the team to step up and volunteer to coach. You can click here to go to the coaches page to register and for more information.
TEAM coaches are required to submit a background check (paid for by TEAM) and be CPR certified.
What if I can't afford the registration fee?
We have a payment plan that allows you to break up the registration fee into 2 or 3 payments.
Scholarships are also available and will be awarded on a case-by-case basis. Email TEAM for more details.
What is your refund policy?
- If the refund request happens BEFORE uniforms are ordered, 100% of the registration fee will be refunded
- If the refund request happens AFTER uniforms are ordered, uniform cost will be deducted from the registration fee and the balance will be refunded (player will receive the uniform)
- If the refund request happens AFTER the 1st game of the season, there will be NO REFUND of registration fee
Can my child participate if they have a disability?
TEAM is open to kids of all abilities and backgrounds. We want to be as inclusive as possible, so if you have a child with special needs or considerations, please reach out to TEAM and we would be happy to see how we can accommodate your child and situation. Please remember that our coaches are parent volunteers and may not have training in this area. Another great activity option for kids with special needs would be the Miracle League of NW Ohio and you can visit their website by clicking here.
What team will my child be on? Why is my child's team name not the same as the school they attend?
We assemble teams starting with all kids who go to the same school. If there are enough kids to form their own team, they will play together, and the team’s name will be their school. Many times, we don't get enough kids from the same school to form a team, so we do our best to group kids together who attend schools that are relatively close to each other. The team names of those combined teams are the name of the school that contributes the most players to the team.
Can my child play on the same team with a sibling, family member, or friend, can you accommodate those requests?
TEAM does everything we can to accommodate requests from parents to have kids play together. We prioritize these accommodations in order of siblings, family, and friends. While we do our best to accommodate these requests, we cannot guarantee them.
What if there is a snowstorm or bad weather on the day of a practice or game?
If schools close due to inclement weather, TEAM must cancel all practices for those days. We will do our best to extend the season 1-week to accommodate a canceled game. More details will come out if a game is canceled and rescheduled.
