Build It Forward - Field Project Phase 2

BUILD IT FORWARD!

The Build It Forward Campaign is a 10-year project to transform 8 acres of Bend Park & Recreation’s
Pine Nursery Community Park into a world-class, all-season, athletic facility.

Phase I has been COMPLETED! - from early field design & engineering, site work construction and years of hard work, Bend FC has built two state of the art synthetic turf fields which cater to small-sided and full sided play for our young players.
All fields have world class flood-lighting and goal/field equipment to match.

The complex is fully enclosed and is available for year round play. In February 2022 and 2023, the PORTLAND THORNS professional women's team, who play in the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) chose to spend five days in Bend to conduct their pre-season camp
due to the excellent facilities we have available.

Bend FC is a Portland Timbers & Thorns Alliance Club Member, 1 of less than 10 clubs across
Oregon (OR), Washington (WA), New Mexico (NM) & Idaho (ID)

WE STILL HAVE WORK TO DO!

Phase II & III, 2022-2026 - we want to
construct the remaining 2 synthetic turf fields giving us 4 fields in total to make our complex the Premier SOCCER & SPORTS Complex in Central Oregon giving us the opportunity to have more members,
hold additional and supplemental programming for youth players and adult players as well as hosting more
tournaments that would be amazing for the local economy.

WHY?

Currently around 2,000 Central Oregon boys and girls participate in competitive and recreational soccer programs through Bend FC Timbers & Thorns. Despite the opening of the first two fields there is still a lack of capacity for playing fields in Bend. During major stretches of the year, there is virtually no usable space due to weather and a lack of light for our kids.  As a result, a group of dedicated volunteers formed the Build It Forward Capital Campaign, a strategic partnership between Bend FC Timbers and Bend Park and Recreation.  To better serve our growing community, the Campaign is an investment in our economy, and it will allow more children and adults to be active in healthy, outdoor team sports.

World-class sporting events fuel vibrant economies. Hosting tournaments and training on state-of-the-art all-season athletic fields will draw visitors from all over Oregon and other states to experience all that Central Oregon has to offer. So the opportunity to create something that is a consistent engine of economic activity – much like the Bend Whitewater Park, Colorado Dam Safe Passage and The Pavilion, which are other examples of this creative public/private partnership model with Bend Parks & Recreation District.

DONATE

Your gift will directly fund the construction of four synthetic turf fields, provide our youth with a safe, year-round place to learn and develop as athletes, and host tournaments to boost the local economy.  Kids want to play soccer and we want to provide them a home in which to train and compete year-round.  We are committed to this field project and our growing sports community.
