Thank you for registering for the Central Oregon Soccer Leagues Spring recreational program! We are excited to announce that the league has broken all records with this year's registration! The below email is full of information regarding the upcoming season including uniform ordering. This year's COSL league will serve over 1500 youth soccer players. This year's COSL theme will be the 2022 World Cup. All COSL teams will be named after one of the 32 teams that competed in the 2022 World Cup.
GENERAL INFORMATION:
Team formation: The goal is to form teams based on grade and school. Coach and friend requests will be considered during the first registration period (September 15 - October 31) but not guaranteed. During the second registration period (Dec. 1- Dec 31st), players that register will be placed solely at league discretion and only at age groups that have availability.
League integrity is priority over any request.
Our number one priority is to protect the integrity of the league. We can not have outside influences, parents, or even coaches building teams. That is not the recreational approach or atmosphere that recreational sports represent. It will not take place in this league. This may mean that your child will be with different teammates, classmates, or coaches compared to previous seasons.
Our system of rostering players is used to establish a fair and balanced distribution of players and playing talent among all teams participating.
Each team is guaranteed a minimum of 7 games during the season and two practices a week (PreK- Kinder once a week). Practice times and days are determined by the coach based on field availability. Practices MIGHT NOT be at your neighborhood school. COSL will be working closely with Bend-LaPine Schools to try and provide as many school field options as possible, however, baseball and softball are the priority sports in the spring. We hope to have answers by February from Bend-LaPine Schools and Bend Park and Recreation in regards to fields. WE CAN NOT SCHEDULE PRACTICES UNTIL WE THESE ANSWERS.
All games are officiated by USSF Referees, as available, with the support of club volunteers and coaches at some of the younger age groups.
To maximize player development and player enjoyment, no age groups will play 11v11. 9v9 will be the largest game size. This is supported by the majority of area high school coaches and we continue to consult with local high school coaches regarding league rules, structure, and game size.

QUESTION AND ANSWER:
When are practices? Teams will practice 1 to 2 days a week with games on the weekends. Teams younger than 1st grade will only practice until games start.
Where are practices? An effort will be made to have practices at local elementary and middle schools. Some teams may practice at Bend Pine Nursery or other local parks depending on school availability.
When will we know practice schedules? ON OR BEFORE MARCH 6TH
WE HAVE TO WAIT UNTIL BOTH BEND PARK & REC AND BEND-LAPINE SCHOOLS RELEASES FIELDS TO US BEFORE WE ARE ABLE TO BEGIN SCHEDULING PRACTICES. WE UNDERSTAND YOUR DESIRE TO PLAN AHEAD AND ARE DOING OUR VERY BEST TO PLAN PRACTICES AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. THANK YOU FOR UNDERSTANDING!
What's the new uniform procedure? NEW in 2023, all players will order uniform kits directly from the vendor. COSL league fees were discounted to accommodate this year's uniform purchase. An email will be sent out the first week in January explaining the uniform process. Participants are responsible for uniform ordering, costs, and shipping. 2023 COSL participation costs were reduced to supplement this change.
Where will games be played? Games will be played at the following: Bend Pine Nursery, Big Sky Park, Bend FC Timbers Complex
WITH OVER 120 TEAMS, AND MULTIPLE COACHES COVERING 2 OR EVEN 3 TEAMS (therefore needing special scheduling considerations), GAME SCHEDULING TAKES TIME. UNTIL WE COMPLETELY FINALIZE TEAMS, WE CANNOT BEGIN GAME SCHEDULING. WE UNDERSTAND YOUR DESIRE TO PLAN AHEAD AND OUR DOING OUR VERY BEST TO GET THE GAME SCHEDULE RELEASED AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. THANK YOU FOR UNDERSTANDING!
What days will games be on? Games will be played on the weekends. Most games will be played on Saturdays, however, some games will be scheduled on Sundays.
What are my teams’ colors? Each participant will order two tops. One will be worn for home games, one for away games. Girls will wear RED for home games and Grey for away games. Boys will wear BLACK for home games and WHITE for away games. Having the same uniform does two things. One, it unifies the league and gives players a club identity. Two, it allows us to combine players from different teams and make tournament or REC STAR teams. The game schedule will identify HOME TEAMS and AWAY TEAMS.
What's the final deadline ordering date? COSL admin recommends ordering uniforms before February 15th, 2023. While February 15th is NOT a deadline, it is recommended to order by this date to have uniforms by first game. The COSL store will be open for the next 18 months and players may order at anytime during that 18 months. Uniforms are used for two seasons and replacement gear may be ordered as needed. As of 2/2/2022, current uniform time has been 2 weeks.
