Families,

We have worked hard this off-season making some changes that will make the game of football safer and hopefully more enjoyable for your player(s). Below are some of the items we have been working on for this upcoming season.

A-String: Your 12-13 year old player can play for KYSA and KMS!
CPR/First Aid: Most of our coaches attended and were certified in CPR/First Aid this off-season.
Heads up Football: KYSA is a Heads up Certified club. All of our coaches will have to be level 1 Certified before they step foot on the field this year. As the club’s Safety Representative I’ll have to attend an 8hr training seminar and then bring that info back to the coaches and you the parents. For more info on Heads up Football go to www.usafootball.com; this program is endorsed and primarily funded by the NFL and NCAA.

- D-String (8-player tackle) 6-7
- E-String (Competitive Flag) 5-6
- *6 year old's can play flag or tackle

KYSA 2023 Football Registration

Registration is open until August 31st, 2023. When registering your player, you MUST provide your physical address. Registrations with PO Boxes will be put on the waiting list until the residential address is supplied. *See residency and age verification rules below.

Season Dates

Practice season begins August 7th. Games start in early September.

Age Groups: (Age as of August 31st)

A-String 12-13
B-String 10-11
C-String 8-9
D-String (8-player tackle) 6-7
E-String (Flag Football) 5-6
*6yr olds have the option to play E or D-string

**NEW PLAYER'S AGE AND RESIDENCY PROOF REQUIRED**

Players who have not played Baseball or Football with KYSA previously, must provide age and residency verification during registration. Failure to submit these documents before August 31st will result in the player being ineligible in games until the documents have been provided to the registrar. Players and their parents/guardians are advised that a false statement of residence will lead to ineligibility to play, up to including forfeiture of games and suspension of play for the season.

Age verification required for new players:

Record of Birth must be a photocopy of a certified copy from the Bureau of Vital Statistics, Department of Health, Hospital Birth Records, Passport, Military Dependent ID card, or Baptismal Certificate.

Photos taken with mobile device will also be accepted. So long as the player's name and date of birth are clearly visible.
If your player has already played with KYSA, you do not need to resubmit birth verification document

Location verification required for new players:

A registered player's physical address (city) must be in Kingston, Hansville, Suquamish, Port Gamble or Indianola. See our boundary map on the Football homepage.

*Addresses with a PO BOX will not work.

During registration you must submit a copy (or photo) of one of the following residency verification documents (from Tier I or Tier II) if your player is new with KYSA:

TIER I • Driver’s License • School Records • Vehicle Records (Registration, Lease, etc.) • Employment Records • Insurance Documents

TIER II • Welfare/Child Care Records • Federal Records (Federal Tax, Social Security, etc.) • State Records • Local Municipal Records • Support Payment Records • Homeowner or Tenant Records • Military Records

Gear Deposit ($250)

A, B, C, and D-String: A $250 gear deposit check is required for each player at the beginning of the season and will be collected during gear check-out by the KYSA Treasurer. KYSA will not process any deposits, unless the player's gear is not returned by the return deadline. Gear provided by KYSA includes jersey, helmet, shoulder pads and padded football pants. Parents and/or guardians are responsible for providing their player with a mouth guard, cup, and cleats.

Volunteer Requirements

Each player(s) family will need to volunteer 2 hours during the season. Volunteer opportunities are listed below. Volunteers can be any parent, guardian or family member over the age of 16. This will be enforced with a $50 deposit check or card number during gear check out. You may choose to pay the opt-out fee during registration instead.

Concession stand during home games @ Kingston High School
Practice field maintenance
Game day set-up and break-down
Advertising, Fundraising volunteers, general administration tasks
Parents who are willing to referee all home games for the C, D string teams and/or instructional flag teams will be given one free player registration for Fall 2022 season. Please reach out to [email protected] to volunteer and have your registration fee adjusted. First come first serve.

Central Council: The KPAPWA Central Council is the governing body that oversees our club and determines playing schedules, rules for competition and the like. Their regular meetings are held the 1st Wednesday of each month from 8:00pm to 9:30pm at the Sheridan Parks & Recreation Center at 680 Lebo Blvd, Bremerton. We encourage everyone to attend at least one meeting during the season to be involved with the decision makers. Below is information regarding concussion symptoms and ways to prevent them in order to keep the kids safe. We expect that all spectators and participants will at all times exhibit good sportsmanship and follow the rules as set in the Code of Conduct.
