Recommended for 9-10 year old players (age on Apr 30 of current year) and advanced 8 year old athletes who have played at least one year of Rookie (coach/machine pitch) and excelled. Team assignment is based on player evaluations and draft. Features a 46' pitching distance and 60' base paths. This division plays under the Official Baseball Rules, but implements some special rules as necessary for the development and safety of this young age group. Players build and refine their fundamental skills while beginning to understand game strategy and teamwork. Players will learn to properly pitch & catch, and hit against live player pitching. They will advance their fielding and throwing skills and learn how to catch fly balls, run bases, advance on errors, and slide. Practices will be held in Kingston and all teams will play in a season end tournament. Most games are expected to be held at Pete Ross Field. This division uses volunteer umpires (PLEASE VOLUNTEER!). This division includes an opportunity for players to qualify for a Cal Ripken League All Star team for further state and regional competition in July.
