Richmond Little League

Minors

Richmond Little League's Minors Division is for Little League Age 9 and 10 and, in some cases, Little League Age 11 players.

RLL Minors is for players born between September 1, 2010 and August 31, 2012.  Some of the rules are modified to increase the pace of play, help develop pitchers and catchers and teach kids the fundamentals of the game. Players work to develop their skills at many different positions in the field, including pitcher.

We also encourage parents who's player is born after May 1, 2010 and before September 1, 2010 and feel that player isn't ready for the Intermediate Field Dimensions (50 feet from pitchers mound to home plate, 70 feet between the bases) to register for Intermediate but to inquire about their player playing in the Minors division.  The Board of Directors looks at each one of these cases on an individual basis.

Minors games are played at Byrd Park on the 46/60 fields.

Before the regular season starts, Minor teams practice at least twice a week (usually once during the week and once on weekends). After the regular season starts, Minors teams usually have two games per week (one during the week and one on the weekend). Minors teams may also conduct practices in between games. Although scores are tallied and games are counted as wins or losses, regular season standings are not kept and have no bearing on the postseason tournament. At the end of the regular season, there is a pool-format playoff tournament.
