Richmond Little League

T-Ball

Tee Ball is the entry level of Little League Baseball, designed to introduce young players to the fundamentals of the game in a fun, supportive, and team-oriented environment.  This division is intended for players little league ages 4-5 and little league age 6-year-olds playing their first year of organized baseball.

The focus is on learning basic skills — hitting, throwing, catching, and running the bases — while helping children develop confidence, coordination, and a love for the game.

Each player bats each inning, hitting from a batting tee to promote proper swing mechanics and success at the plate. As the season progresses, coaches may pitch to those players who have demonstrated an ability to hit a moving ball.

Defensive play emphasizes learning positions and making basic fielding plays rather than competition or keeping score. Coaches are on the field to provide instruction, encouragement, and ensure a positive experience for every child.

The Tee Ball season typically includes one practice and one game per week, all held at our Tee Ball field at Byrd Park or Maymont. Teams are kept small to maximize participation, and all players receive equal playing time.

Above all, Tee Ball is about fun, teamwork, and building the foundation for a lifelong enjoyment of the game.
