Machine Pitch is for players who are Little League ages 7 and 8. There is no live pitching but instead, the ball is "pitched" from a machine placed on the pitching mound. The rules and format of Machine Pitch are set up to be less intensive play than the upper levels and focus on the teaching and instructional aspects of the game. This is the first level where players begin to learn and play by most of the basic baseball rules.
Before the regular season starts, Machine Pitch teams practice twice per week (usually once during the week and once on weekends). After the regular season starts, Machine Pitch teams usually play games twice per week (again, once during the week and once on the weekends), and coaches may schedule periodic additional practices. Machine Pitch games are played on the Lois-Harrison Jones field, and the weeknight games are usually played from 5:30 - 7:00 p.m. Weekend games are played Saturdays and occasionally Sunday afternoons.
