Travel Soccer

What is the Travel Soccer Program?

The Chill Travel soccer program is a competitive program for players in grades 3-8. The program's focus is on FUN, continual development and confidence building in a competitive environment. The kids that play in this program typically have soccer as their primary sport, and usually end up playing in HS. Many of them also play at higher levels for local premier clubs.

What are the key dates and times for the program?

Registration for the Recreational soccer program starts on April 1st via the registration page on our website, until mid-June when school ends.

The Travel program runs three seasons as follows:

  • Outdoors in the Fall for 7 weekends starting in September and ending in early November. The league does not post the game schedule until the end of August... so we won't know the games schedule until early September
  • Indoors in the Winter from November to March.
  • Outdoors in the Spring starting in April and ending in June. The league does not post the game schedule until early April... so we won't know the games schedule until early April

Schedule dates will be posted on the our main page and also sent to registered families via email before the season starts.

Typically, there are 5-7 league games during the season which are played on Sundays and 1-4 friendlies which are played on Saturdays, half of which are HOME games. Practices are 2-3 times per week on days selected by the coaches ranging from 1 -1.5 hours per session.

How much does it cost?

Visit our Registration page for the fees

How much travel is required?

Chill Travel Soccer is affiliated with CJSA and plays in the Central/North Central District thus we can play teams as far west as Harwinton, as far east as Tolland, as far North as Suffield and as far south as Middletown (You can see the district map here)

Where is the program run?

The Travel Soccer Program is conducted at WIS, CMS and the HS soccer fields, weather permitting.

What gear do players need?

New Travel players receive a Chill backpack.

Players are also required to purchase a full uniform kit which costs ~ $80-90. Kits are used for 2 years and can be purchased via our club store link on our website.

Players U9-U11  are required to bring a size 4 ball. Players U12+ are required to bring a size 5 ball.

They will need to bring, cleats, shin guards, and a water bottle to each session. On colder days they may want to wear light gloves and base layers.

Can my kid play other sports?

YES! We understand that kids have diverse sports interests so we encourage kids to play a wide variety of sports since it makes for more well-rounded athletes. However, we expect that their primary focus in the Fall season be soccer. What does this mean? That means that playing time preference each week is given to players that attend ALL practices and games, which we feel is fair to those who put in the time & effort.

Who Coaches players in the Program?

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!

Cromwell Chill uses all volunteer parent coaches for all teams within the club from 3rd grade - 8th grade for both Travel and Recreational soccer. Coaches are reimbursed their kids registration fee at the end of the season after they complete all of the necessary background checks, concussion protocol & soccer coaches training (online & paid by club), and return all issued equipment.

The Club provides curriculum and informational clinics on various coaching topics to all as well as mentoring to help coaches get started.

Visit our Coaches page for more information on the training we provide and the resources available.
