About Fairview SAY Soccer Program

Program Structure
Fairview SAY soccer is a member of Cincinnati SAY east soccer, which provides recreational and competitive leagues for children age 4- 18. We normally field girls and boys teams in following SAY age structures.  We do not provide a team for 6th graders on Spring seasons, as they age out the Striker division and we refer them to Walnut Hills High school’s SAY teams. (we normally refer them to Walnut hills SAY teams. Please let us know if you are interested in, we can pass on the contact info to you)

  • Passers – Age 6 to 7 (U8) Plays 6 on 6
  • Wings – Age 8 to 9 (U10) Plays 8 on 8
  • Strikers – Age 10 to11 (U12) Plays 9 on 9

SAY East league uses rules that stipulate that a child’s age as of July 31st determines the level for which he or she will play for the year.

Soccer Season
We have both Fall and Spring season. Typically Fall Season runs from late August to mid-October and Spring season runs from Late March to mid-May.
Game schedules are provided by SAYEast. Please check their web-site http://www.sayeast.org/ often. They also provide the game field locations and directions to. Typically you will have some weekends with one game schedules and others with two games (Saturday and Sunday).

Location of Soccer Practices/ games

A: Our practice field is at CRC’s West Fork Field, located at 1601 West Fork Road, Cincinnati OH 45223. It is directly behind the Mees Distributors on the intersection of Colerain and Virginia/WestFork. If you use I-74W, Take exit 18 (first exit after you merge onto I-74) Take exit 18 for US-27 N toward Colerain Ave, and stay on left lane and then turn left onto West Fork. It is about 5 to 7 min drive from Clifton area.
Some team also practice at Salway Park off of Spring Grove Avenue

We have also practiced at Sacred Heart field, the soccer field across from the Mount Storm park in past seasons.

Team Coaches
All of our coaches are parents/community volunteers. They are required to go through background checks, concussions and basic safety trainings before each seasons. Each team must have two coaches and a parent volunteer. Most of our coaches are our wonderful community members and long time coaches who are passionate about soccer and/or want to give back to the community.. Fairview SAY soccer always needs volunteers to keep our fun program running! If you are interested in volunteer opportunities or to get involved coaching, please contact us at [email protected]

Registration

You will need to go to the Fairview Athletic Booster’s website and register with Bluesombrero website. Please see the drop down tab “registration instruction” under the Fairview Soccer on the tab on the Fairview Athletic Booster page. https://clubs.bluesombrero.com/Default.aspx?tabid=260781

If you have any questions or need to find information such as your player’s team/coach, log-in info, registration fees, anything relating to team roster, etc., please contact your roster coordinator at [email protected]

Program Cost
The registration fee is $60 for each season, and the jersey is $25 additional if you need it.

Program Eligibility

If your player’s birthday is after 7/31 cut off but he is with the grade level above based on the birthdate, the website will give you the available program based on the birth date. For example, if your player is incoming 3rd grade with a birthday 8/10/XX, the system considers the player as 2nd grade. In this case, please write both Kelly Browner our district rep: [email protected] and Julie Lee our Roster coordinator: [email protected] and request to “play up” and explain the reason. Kelly will forward the request to SAY east and we will adjust the program in the website to place the player accordingly. NOTE: A player can play up but cannot play down per SAY East’s rule.

Practices

Information on practices will not be available until a week or two before season begins. Once we submit our team roster to SAY East and receive their approval, we then need to coordinate with coaches to work out practice details, including day, time and location. Typically practices will occur between Tuesdays to Fridays after 5pm. Passers teams (1st & 2nd) will practice once a week for an hour, while Wings and Strikers teams (3rd grade and up) will practice twice a week for an hour. These can change depends on the teams’ needs but these are the general guidelines.

Roster Requests

We can not honor requests for players to be on the same team or to be with specific coaches.  SAY East requires that we follow a blind roster process which means we do not manipulate team rosters. We do ensure that teams are balanced by age distribution of players and coaches do coach their own children.

If there are any unusual situations/problems, please contact us. We will try our best, but we have to follow SAY East league rules

Practice Availability

We expect all players to make their best effort to be at practices and games. However, occasional conflicts are certainly expected and we recommend you communicate with your player’s coach. We do not take requests for switching teams based on practice dates and times.

SAY Weather Policy
SAY East dictates whether a game is played or rescheduled in inclement weather. If in doubt, please call the SAY East Weather Hotline at 513.369.8036. The organization typically update its information on Saturday morning around 7am and Sunday morning around 10am. This is especially important during the Spring seasons as Spring weather in Cincinnati is very unpredictable. Our parent liaison, Laura will update same info on our Facebook page and your coaches will do their best to reach their families as well.

Playing School and Club soccer

There are no restrictions from SAY East on a player playing for multiple teams, including a school and a club team. However, we recommend that you check with the soccer club to which your child belongs to make sure there are no conflicts of interest. We also hope that your player will make the most of practice time with us so that he/she will get to know other players on the team and work as a valuable team member instead of temporary playmate.

Team Uniforms

We ask that all players purchase and wear the Fairview team uniform of team jersey, black shorts and black socks. We updated the design of Jersey in 2017/2018 year. We ask all the players to wear the new style Jersey which has a Fairview Falcons Fussball patch in front. (Old style had a Germany patch instead). If you forgot to order a jersey at registration, please contact us as we may have some in stock.

Scholarships

We do offer a scholarship for registration fees that are considered on a case-by-case basis. Please contact us to discuss your specific situation.
