The Elite Clubs National League (ECNL) is a US Club Soccer-sanctioned league founded in 2009 to enhance the developmental experience of the female youth soccer players in the United States. The goal of the ECNL is to change the landscape for elite female soccer players in the United States with innovative, player-centered programming and to enhance the overall experience by creating a better, more enjoyable, and more successful player, coach, and club development model. Girls ECNL competition consists of both conference competition and National Event competition. Conference competition typically takes place outside the high school season, allowing players to participate, providing regional competition for member clubs to compete against one another. The ECNL Girls is split into multiple conferences across the country. In addition, there are several ECNL National Events that provide cross-conference competition, and an opportunity to be seen by college scouts. ECNL Girls Regional Leagues are operated and managed by the ECNL Girls to insure a consistent environment and level of professionalism across all leagues. Each league allows improved coordination and collaboration between teams of different levels within ECNL clubs, or opportunity for teams and players in other clubs to develop through regular high level competition.
