Weather Policy

Hello Redoubt families!

The weather for outdoor sports can be uncooperative at best. Below is our weather policy and how we determine if fields should be closed:

The only time we close the fields is when they pose a safety risk to the players. If we have periods of heavy rain, the water will sit on the fields, creating big puddles of water. Even though it may be sunny outside, if it rained heavily the night before or the morning of, it takes a while for the water to drain off the fields. When they are that wet, there is an increased risk of injury as the fields become muddy and slick. When they are in that condition, we will always close the fields and no practices or games for that day can take place.

If your team is practicing and you hear thunder or see lightening, practice must stop immediately, and all players must leave the field. No one can return until 30 minutes have lapsed from the last occurrence. So, if you hear thunder or see lightening again after 20 minutes, you must wait until 30 minutes have passed from the second occurrence.

Our website always shows the field status and it is updated daily by 3:30 pm. If weather looks menacing for game day Saturdays, we will either try to make a decision Friday night, or inspect the fields no later than 8:00 am Saturday morning.

If fields will be closed for game day, we will update the website. Again, we appreciate your understanding and patience.

If you have any questions at all, please let us know!
