The Northmont SAY board has decided to adjust the age matrix we currently
use to place players into divisions that match the SAY National Gold matrix.
Our current divisions are one year younger then the national divisions.
Adjusting our division age categories will allow us to send age appropriate
teams to the state tournament and increase our level of competition at the
tournament. This will allow us to introduce 2 new divisions! The new division
age structure is below.
Tiny
Tykes - (new division) ages 3-4
Jr
Stars (new division) - ages 5-6
Passers
- ages 7-8
Wings
- ages 9-10
Strikers
- ages 11-12
Kickers
- ages 13-14
Minor/seniors
- ages 15 - 18
The
age change will keep all the players in the passer divisions and older in the
same division they played in for the 2018 season.
Tiny Tykes division - this is new for us as we are allowing 2 year olds that
turn 3 in 2019 to play at SAY - a year earlier than previous seasons. The
intent for this age group is to give the “little guys” an introduction to
soccer. We are still working on the rules but teams will be smaller - with 4-5
players from each team on a field for games, short quarters, no goalies, no
throw-ins, no corner or goal kicks, no referees and NO SCORE! The coaches will
facilitate the games and all the kids win every game.
