All-Star FAQs
What are All-Stars?
All-Stars is an opportunity for a select group of SKLL’s most competitive players to participate in a tournament(s) against “all-star” teams from other leagues in the region and possibly across the country.
Special Tournament Teams
Special Tournament teams are opportunities for players not participating in All-Stars or other lower age divisions, to play in tournament style play from other little leagues across the state.
What Divisions get to play?
This year the South Kingstown Little League is entering the following Divisions and age groups into All-Star and Special Tournament Play
● Senior Baseball Division
● Junior Baseball Division
● Majors Baseball Division
o 12u All Stars (ages 12,11,10,9)
o 11u All Stars (ages 11,10, 9)
● Majors Softball Division
o 12u All Stars (ages 12,11,10,9)
o 10u All Stars (ages 10, 9)
● Special Tournament Teams
o 10u Baseball (ages 10,9,8; a combination of Majors and AAA players)
o 8u Baseball (ages 8,7; a combination of AA and AAA players)
Who is eligible for All-Stars?
All players rostered on a Little League player pitch team who also participated in 60% of regular season scheduled games are eligible, except for Seniors Division who have different minimum game requirements.
What is the commitment level?
All-Stars have significant commitments and players/families will be expected to commit to the practice and game schedule. All Stars will start practicing in the first or second week of June. Practices could range from everyday day to 4-5 days a week.
All district All Star Tournaments will start around June 17 and end around July 2
State All Star Tournaments will start after July 4 and last approximately five to six days
In the event a team makes it out of the states, there will be regional tournaments and world series tournaments lasting until the end of July or mid-August.
Special Tournament Teams
These tournaments are usually mid-July and last approximately 7 days. Practices usually begin at the end of June.
How are Players Selected?
The South Kingstown Little League Board has decided on the following selection process for this year
Seniors/Juniors/Majors Baseball (12U & 11U) and Majors Softball (12U)
- All rostered players will have the opportunity to vote a specific number of players on the appropriate All-Star Team within their division. The League Player Agent will handle the ballot process
- Managers from each division will vote a specific number of players on the appropriate All-Star Teams within their division, The Player agent will handle the ballot process.
- The All-Star Manager from each team will have a specific number of selections for their team within their division.
- If an All-Star that is selected after being notified cannot make the commitment, then the All-Star Manager will have the ability to select another eligible player.
- All-Stars will be notified on Friday after the selection process has been completed. All-Star Rosters will be announced and posted on Sunday after the selection process has been completed.
10U Softball and Special Tournament Teams
These players will be selected solely by the Managers from those divisions and the All-Star Manager or Special Tournament Team Managers.
How are coaches selected?
All officially rostered coaches from their divisions are eligible to Manage an All-Star Team or Special Tournament Team.
All-Star Managers and Special Tournament Team Managers will state their intent in writing to the President of the League prior to the monthly scheduled Board Meeting on May 21. The Player Agent and League President will review the candidates and put names forward for the League Board to vote.
Assistant coaches will be chosen by the All-Star Manager from the rostered coaches within their division.
Do All- Stars or Special Tournament Teams cost extra?
Fees associated with All-Stars and Special Tournament Teams could range from $75 - $150 to cover the cost of uniforms and is the responsibility of players/families. The League will cover the cost of all other fees (baseballs, umpires and other tournament fees) for District and State Tournaments.
For Majors Baseball and Softball 12u, If a team makes it to regional or world series play, Little League International covers the cost of the team to travel. Families will be responsible for their own travel to those tournaments.
For Junior and Senior Divisions, Little League International does not cover the cost of regional play. Historically the league has paid for travel for those teams to get there. If a team makes it to a World Series Tournament, Little League International will cover the cost of travel for those teams. Families are responsible for their own travel to those tournaments.
Tournament play ends for 11u and 10u All-Star Teams at the State Level.
The league will cover the cost of entry fees for Special Tournament Teams.

All District and State Tournaments will happen within the State of Rhode Island.
Senior Division
● Regional - Bangor, Maine
● World Series - Easley, South Carolina
Junior Division
● Regional - DuBois, Pennsylvania
● Junior World Series - Taylor, Michigan
Majors Baseball 12u
● Regional - Bristol, Connecticut
● World Series - Williamsport, Pennsylvania
Majors Softball 12u
● Regional - Bristol, Connecticut
● World Series - Greenville, North Carolina
Special Tournament Teams - TBD, but within Little League District 3.
