How much will the program cost? 
-$45.00
-All sales are final.
-NO REFUNDS will be issued for participant-initiated cancellations or days missed.

When will registrations open?
We plan to open registrations on June 1. 

What are the dates of the program?
-The program will run in July 2025. Participants will get to experience a different activity each week.

  • Week 1 (July 14- 18)
  • Week 2 (July 21- 25)
  • Week 3 (July 28 - Aug 1) 

What is the timeframe for the program each day?
-The program will begin at 9:00 AM and end at 12:30 PM daily. The schedule is subject to change. If the schedule must change, we will notify parents a minimum of 24 hours in advance.

What is the age range for the program?
-4-12 years of age

How will participants be divided?
-Kids will be divided by age groups. Age groups include: 4/5, 6/7, 8/9, 10-12
-Depending on numbers there may be a few combined groups.
-Siblings will be in the same group if they are in the same age group.

How many participants can register?
-The summer program is budgeted to support 200 registrants.
-This will allow for adequate supervision

Where will the drop-off and pick-up location be?
-Drop off and pick up TBD

What is the staff-to-participant ratio? 
-There will be 1 staff member per 8 kids registered. Additionally, our Program Coordinator and other City staff will always be on-site.
-All employees will be screened, and drug tested, and a background check has been conducted

What does the daily schedule look like?
-The daily schedule will change each week depending on the Activity your child is participating in. We will do our best to keep parents updated on the schedule.
-Weekly Activity, here is what the daily schedule will look like:

-Introduction/Attendance 9:00 AM – 9:20 AM
-Station set up / Stretching 9:20 AM – 9:40 AM
-Agility 9:40 AM – 10:00 AM
-Water Break 10:00 AM – 10:05 AM
-Activity – Group A / Playground Time – Group B / Sport- Group C 10:05 AM – 10:35 AM
-Rotate Stations/Water 10:35 AM – 10:40 AM
-Playground– Group A / Sport– Group B / Activity - Group C 10:40 AM – 11:10 AM
-Rotate Stations/Water 11:10 AM – 11:15 AM
-Sport – Group A / Activity – Group B / Playground - Group C 11:15 AM – 11:45 AM
-Clean up / Pick up Stations /Snack Water 11:45 AM – 12:00 PM
-Parent Pick up 12:00 PM - 12:30 PM
-Summer Program encourages you to pick up student lunches at the OSD location TBD for Summer 2025 while the food program is in session.

Will my child be supervised when visiting the restroom?

-Yes. Children will be supervised at all times. A staff member will walk participants to and from the restroom.
-The restrooms that will be used are located in the Lions Complex and the restroom structure at the basketball courts. 

What is the plan for super-hot afternoons?
-This program will be run in the morning to avoid this situation. We hope that our mornings are comfortable. Please be sure to pick up your child on time.

If I want to pick up my child early, who do I need to speak to? 
-Our program supervisors will be on-site at all times. You may call 509-331-2770 ahead of time to let us know you will be picking up your child and we will ensure to have them ready
for pick-up

Will there be transportation?
-Transportation services will not be provided. Please make arrangements for drop off and pickup.

What is the emergency plan in the event of an injury, allergic reaction, or heat exhaustion? 
-Good thing our program supervisors and leaders hold first aid and AED certificates. The Othello Community Hospital EMS Department will be called in the event of an emergency beyond our control. In the event of an emergency, City staff will ensure parents or emergency contacts are contacted immediately. 

My child has food allergies. How will employees be made aware of their specific dietary restrictions? 
-Please be sure to note any specific dietary restrictions on your registration. Children with allergies will wear a colored bracelet. Staff assigned to your child will have specific information regarding your child’s needs and restrictions.

What does my child need to bring with him/her to camp? What should he/she wear?
-Your child should come to camp wearing closed-toed tennis shoes. Athletic clothes are preferred, but not required. This is not a competitive sports camp. Specific sports items are not required. Cleats are not allowed. We would like to minimize injury. On the first Friday that your child attends camp, we will provide
your child a camp t-shirt. Please make sure your child wears their camp t-shirt every Friday! Lastly, we will have water bottles and plenty of sunscreen on-site for all staff and participants. 

What does the menu for lunch look like? Can I send my child to camp with a sack lunch? 
-Yes, you can send your child with a sack lunch. Your child can eat their sack lunch while waiting for you to pick them up. Lunch will not be provided by the program but, we will have a snack. A snack example would include goldfish crackers and a drink.

What if my child needs to miss a day? Should I call and notify the program leaders?
-Yes. Please call us at 509-331-2770 or send us a direct message on the TeamReach App to let us know your child will be absent. 

Will my child be able to walk to Summer Rec and check in? 
-Yes, but each parent has to declare so during the registration process. We understand that life happens and plans change. In this case, if your child needs to walk please contact us at the Parks and Recreation number 509-331- 2770 or send us a message on TeamReach. 

I will not be able to pick up my child and need someone else to, is this allowed? 
-Yes, We understand that life happens and plans change. In this case, if your child needs to be picked up by someone not on your emergency contact list please contact us at the Parks and Recreation number 509-331-2770 or send us a message on TeamReach.

I missed the deadline to register my child. Can we sign them up on the first day of camp? 
-No. All children must be registered before the first day of camp.

How will we stay informed of camp activities or changes to the schedule?
-When there are changes to the schedule, camp staff will notify parents utilizing the following methods:
- TeamReach App
- Facebook/Instagram Post
- Email , Please SUBSCRIBE through your Sports Connect to get all bulk emails and notifications.
- Additionally, phone calls will be made to parents who request phone calls as their preferred method of communication.
-Parents should download the TeamReach App – Code will be provided on the registration confirmation.
-Please edit your profile so we know who your child is.  example ( John Doe’s Guardian)


I would like to stay for the first couple of days to make sure my children are comfortable staying with others. Is this allowed? 

-Absolutely! We want to make sure that all children including their parents feel comfortable.

Can individuals volunteer to assist with the program?
-Yes! We welcome volunteers to come and assist us with the program. Please contact the Parks & Recreation Department at 509-331-2770 if you’re interested In volunteering. A background check is required for all volunteers.
