Juniors Summer Season 2024

Season Overview


The Juniors team at CBRC is built around the core values of teamwork, sportsmanship, hard work, and accountability. At the heart of our program is the singular goal to give youth in the Greater Tacoma area the very best opportunities to not only excel at an athletic endeavor, but to grow into healthy, capable adults and citizens.

Summer rowing with the Juniors team is open to rising 8th-12th graders who have completed their novice season. A novice season is one season of rowing.

Practice Calendar

All practices will be held at the CBRC boathouse or on the water at Harry Todd Park and American Lake in Lakewood, (Tillicum), WA. 

  • Start: June 24, 2024
  • End: August 8, 2024
  • Days: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday 
  • Time: 7:30am - 9:30am

Summer Regatta Schedule

  • August 3, 2024 - Greenlake Summer Extravaganza Regatta, Seattle, WA

Season Fee

To make participation more flexible for Junior Rowers, CBRC offers a flexible punch card system. Our intention is to make participation easier to plan around other family and youth activities.

You may enroll for:

  • The entire session of 27 practices for $525.00. [$19.44 per practice]
  • A partial season of 20 practices for $420.00. [$21.00 per practice]
  • A partial season of 10 practices for $230.00. [$23.00 per practice]


This fee structure reflects an increase of $25.00 from the 2023 Summer Season.

Registration and Payment

General Participation Requirements

Registration is required for all athletes participating in rowing at CBRC.

  • Each rower is required to register online before participating in each rowing season.
  • Athletes must also hold a current USRowing membership, have their member number available, and sign a USRowing online waiver.
  • Finally, please sign and submit the Declaration of Swimming Ability.


Summer Season Registration and Fees

Registration

  • Registration will open on March 3, 2024
  • Please complete your registration by Friday, June 19, 2024
  • Rowed before and new to CBRC? Create an account by clicking "Register" at the top of this page.
  • Returning rowers: click Login at the top of this page, enter your username and password.
  • You may choose the "Pay by Check" option to make payment arrangements or pay the total by check.

The season fee covers club operating costs, including practice costs, coaching, payroll taxes, launch gas, repair costs, registration fees, insurance, etc.

Additional Fees

The season fee does not include the following:

  • US Rowing Championship Membership ($65 for a new one-year membership/ $55 renewal for existing US Rowing member)
  • Team Clothing Fees (variable)
  • Participation in Greenlake Summer Extravaganza Regatta will be a separate fee from the summer session cost.

USRowing Membership

A USRowing membership is required for participation in rowing at CBRC.

To obtain a USRowing member number, please visit USRowing Membership.

  • Championship membership costs $65.00 is required to participate in US Rowing sanctioned regattas
  • US Rowing memberships are good for one year from the date of purchase.

Parent Volunteer Commitment

Volunteering is essential to the success of all of our programs at CBRC. We rely heavily on our parents to keep our Juniors program running well.

  • Parents are in charge of running the team tent at regattas, fundraising, and coordinating travel. All parents are expected to volunteer to help keep the team operating smoothly

  •  Parents are expected to help with at least one CBRC event or committee, for example: manning the food tent at regattas

 

 


Optional Equipment Replacement or Program Support Donation

 When you register, you can choose to donate $50 or $100 to support CBRC equipment and programs.

Youth Rowing Scholarships

Anyone who wants to row should be able to do so, regardless of background or economic circumstance.

CBRC's mission is to build community, confidence, and excellence through rowing, and we are committed to making rowing more accessible to area youth. Please see our Youth Rowing Scholarship page for more information.

Youth of color and those facing socio-economic barriers are encouraged to apply for scholarship support through the George Pocock Rowing Foundation (GPRF). The GPRF processes all scholarship applications via an on-line scholarship application form:
